have the everlasting rose from the beauty and beast movie but since it wouldnt look right making it too long to cover from the top of my shoulder to my elbow ive decided to add a quote from beauty and beast to complete it.
it will be right below it in cursive pretty font
with the candle stick on one side and the clock on the other to frame in the quote.

im not just getting this because its cool or whatever heres the reason behind the tat:
i got a tattoo from a disney movie because when i was 3 i walked in on my dad with a knife to my moms throat. he yelled for me to leave i told my sister who was 5 she called police. police told me i could take 1 item with me well at 3 my favorite thing was beauty and beast. since then i have moved around from place to place and have had a really rough life so this movie has really helped me. the enchanted rose means so much to me; thats why i got it. not just because of a movie. you can even google it the story behind the rose is the reason so many have it tattooed

From what I understand, the enchanted rose means time, not love? (i havent seen Beauty and the Beast in a veryyyyy long time lol) um, so i guess since he has till the last petal falls to find someone to love him, or else he stays that way forever, maybe something that represents what saved you. i apologize in advance since i cant think of any philosophical quotes on this but search for strength quotes. I am very sorry for what you witnessed as a child. I can relate more than youd expect. (not with that specific situation, but if you change a knife with something else and me being your older sister then its almost the same). Anyway, think of something like that. I did try to find something to maybe give you for a starting off point but everything is about jesus and god and im not sure your religious stance or if its even relevant. Good luck to you. :)

the side of the finger often does not even hold a tattoo, it just falls out. A quote up the side of the body is pretty if you have the body for it, or curved along the top of the foot (get it custom shaped to curve with your body), like a low slung necklace on the chest, or across the top of the back.

Sounds like your main reason to get it is because of girls and your own desire for a tattoo comes second. Tattoos are permanent, and there's gonna be plenty of girls that don't like them at all. If you're going to invest in something like that, your own desire needs to be the priority reason for getting it. Because when you do find a girl that likes tattoos on a man, she'll ask you what it means. And she'll be much more turned on if there's some awesome story of how it symbolizes something meaningful to you rather than that you just wanted to pick up chicks.

Personally, I love tattoos on a man, but my boyfriend has 2 that I just don't like at all. But it's his body and his choice so I just deal with it.

Your best bet is to take time. Think about whether or not you really want one. Think about what is special to you and always will be, and then figure out how to symbolize that in a tattoo, or just get a quote that is descriptive of your life motto. And make sure it's somewhere that can be hidden when it needs to be. I love the look of neck tats but I would never date a guy who had one cuz he would never get a job that was really worth anything.

How bad does a tattoo on the left side of the rib-cage hurt?

I've heard a lot of stories saying it hurts really badly. But if it's just a quote, and nothing huge that will require shading, will it still hurt a lot?

Also, will I have to take my shirt completely off for this?

Lovely quote. The thing you need to know is that rib cage tattoos are not only painful. they are awkward. You need to stay very still for it, i have seen some very screwed up rib tattoos from people being in pain and uncomfortable who moved too much. ALSO, outlines are typically the most painful part of a tattoo, the fill and colour is the easy part. So getting words may not take as long as something super detailed or something huge, but it is all outline.

if you're a girl, the worry with rib tattoos is taking your shirt off. Tattoo artists are used to seeing lots of skin, and they are professionals. It is like going to the doctors, nothing they havent seen hundreds of times. That being said, you want to be comfortable!! covering breast, stomach, whatever you dont like to show is important for your comfort. Ask you artist what he prefers you wear or what you can use to cover yourself. He may recommend taping something over yourself.that's probably what I myself would end up doing because you cant wear a bra because of the strap.

Loaded question. Most artists charge around $150/hr, but will normally quote you on a piece. I've got two tattoos that cost me $150 and took 4-5 hrs (including breaks, etc.) and one that cost $350 (and took about the same amount of time). All depends on the artist and what you want to do. Straight American Traditional, no shading....who knows, but probably would take 2-3 hours tattoo time, depending on the design.

Shading and detail take a long time and a good artist, but not every artist can do a good American traditional tattoo like the mermaid. Find out what artist(s) specialize in what techniques in your area.

Ribs reputedly hurt a bit more than other areas, but I will say my calf burned like white hot coals as opposed to my shoulder/bicep area. Calves are far from you heart, so much more difficult in healing.
