What does everyone think about an 18 year old girl with a rib cage tattoo?

I am really thinking about getting a rib cage tattoo when I turn 18 in Jan. I was thinking about either getting a long patterns of lillies with many curves in them and spirals, or butterflies or stars? What do you think?

i love rib cage tattoos i got my rib cage done when i was 17 (after endlessly begging my mom) and it's my favorite tattoo by far, i heard horror stories of how bad it hurts when it really didn't at all, all 4 hours of it. It's your body though so be sure of the design you want, Lillies sound way cute though! :)

For a quote that long on your rib cage, you would have to get the letters pretty big - anything small would tend to blur over time. Honestly, you should try cutting the quote into at least half, maybe even a quarter - look at it and think about which phrase jumps out or means the most to you. It will look better and be less painful and less expensive if you choose one line to get. Yes the ribs are one of the most painful places to get tattooed. And if you want the whole quote you may have to end up paying hourly and the going rate varies but could be about $100-$150 an hour. Also, getting the whole quote would probably mean getting a tattoo much bigger than you had planned on. Again, I seriously suggest looking at it and picking out one line or a few words that would help you to remember the whole quote.

How bad do rib cage tattoos hurt?

I am getting a tattoo of an anchor on my rib cage, about 9 inches below my underarm and on the side. It'll be a 1in x 1in tattoo. I am a girl and I don't have a very high pain tolerance. But I was just wondering how bad it'll hurt on a scale of 1-10 and what it feels like (i.e. a wasp sting, stabbing pain, etc). Thanks.

It is probably not nearly as bad as you think it will be. I would describe it as a sort of hot scraping pain, not terrible, but you will be aware of it. This information might help.

carpe diem means live the day...not live to the fullest. It's about following immediate urges, not planning for long term happiness. Honestly, it's a reckless mantra to follow over long periods of time.

Well dear, what exactly do you feel about life, regrets, and belief? You should be inspired by someting before you mark yourself with it...not decide to get a marking and scramble to find something to fill space. You're doing it all backwards.

Center yourself, read some books, live some life, find something that really speaks to your soul, and come back to the tattoo thing in a few years when you're really ready. Please don't do it just get a tattoo because it's trendy..especially a quote. If you want something fast, get an image. An image is more prone to interpretation than actual words. Getting a quote is something different...it's an unabstracted definition of something that's a part of you...either it's a mantra you live by or it's a phrase that got you through a tough time or it's something that someone you loved repeated to you...something along those lines. Picking something at random might not hold up over time. You don't want to live with something untrue.
