right the first picture:

i want the thinness of that tattoo, without the rosary beads.
and then i would like to incorporate the bow from this tattoo:
http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l8lfr82lGK1qdd7o9o1_500.jpg&imgrefurl=http://fromthenotebook.tumblr.com/post/2179004992/i-love-tattoos-that-make-it-look-like-you-have-a&usg=__q4TewHiiemq2abAc7-t3G060lrU=&h=368&w=500&sz=52&hl=en&start=6&zoom=1&tbnid=y_SN4M9lwNRIpM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=130&ei=Hr3_TargD4qRswbvuODtDQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgarter%2Btattoo%2Bpictures%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26biw%3D785%26bih%3D340%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1
but a bit smaller.
anyway, i don't want it too detailed as it is my first tattoo. but yeah, i really like this idea, obviously i would have someone design it for me so its a bit different, but what do you think about this on a slim,blonde,17 year old girl? (me, obviously:L) and how much roughly would it cost in the UK, and how long would it actually take, and would it hurt a lot being on the thigh? Thankss:)!
also would I look like a whore with it, I wouldnt show it off 24-7 just sayinggg like, if you saw someone with that would you think, wow, or, "sket."

Answer
Skanky. I think you would regret it.

All tattoos become ugly and repulsive if they are desecrating the living bodies of human beings. Your body is not a canvas for so-called art--it is the living shell that your spirit resides in. It is to be protected and cared for, not abused by the filthy hands of the tattoo predator injecting ink into your skin. Here is why you should avoid tattoos like the plague they are:
1) Tattoos are an urban blight. They offend most people who see them. They are ugly, like graffiti. Like graffiti, they lower the quality of the environment. Tattoos lower the quality of life, for everyone who has to see their ugliness.
2) The whole concept of tattooing is wrong--the way these hideous cartoons are inked into the flesh of people through bloodletting and pain, possibly resulting in infection and disease--if they are "art", they are a dark and evil âartâ.
3) Tattoos are closely linked to other forms of self harm, like cutting, piercing, drug use, incarceration, etc.; they are hand-in-glove with these destructive behaviors.
4) Evil people encourage our vulnerable children to get tattooed so they can make money off of them. They do not care that they are causing harm. And yet, these evil ones, these tattoo predators, with their cruel eyes and dark hearts, are even admired by their deceived victims. What a sick world we are in!
5) Young people are fooled into wanting tattoos by degenerate Hollywood and their degraded âmovie starsâ and musicians, and promoted by the prostitute mass media. Our deceived children think tattoos are cool and cutting edge, but over time, they wind up hating their tattoos. Far worse, they wind up hating themselves.
6) Weak parents and older people abandon their duties to lead their young even though they know better. They are so afraid of being disliked, so desperate to be âlikedâ that they say nothing against tattoo. Worse, some completely abandon their responsibility to provide sound guidance and even encourage the young ones to get tattooed.
7) How it hurts so see the deceived young one so angrily defensive about what will ruin and hurt them--their right to get tattooed.
8) The Lord of Hosts, creator of mankind, clearly commands against them. "Do not cut your bodies⦠or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORDâ Leviticus 19:28
9) As far as tattoos being âartâ, that is garbage. A tattoo is NOT "a work of art". The human body is not a canvas and the abusers and mutilators who desecrate it are not artists. Most of their so called "art" is little better than comic book drawings.
Young people, express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. Avoid this disastrous mistake that will damage your spirit and ruin your life. Like drinking, and taking drugs, and practicing self harm, getting tattooed will ruin you, not right away, but over time. There are many predators and enablers here, who encourage young people to abandon decency and live self indulgent and destructive lives. Know there is no such thing as a tattoo "artist"--there are only tattoo predators who seek to hurt you and take your money. The tattoo industry is full of abuse and negligence. Tattoo removal is a growth industry. Tattoo lawsuits are soaring due to the harm caused by the tattoo predators who abuse the young people who mistakenly trust them. If you were tattooed as a minor or while intoxicated, take the tattoo parlor and the tattoo predator who ruined your body to court. Make them pay for what they have done to you. God bless you. Young people-- stay in school, do your best there, avoid drinking, drugs, tattoos and piercings, and avoid those who have them. Go to college, study science, mathematics, or business, and avoid liberal arts, unless you are wealthy and do not have to support yourself and your family.

Do you have any tattoo sleeve ideas?

nea

I'm a girl and I want two sleeves.

I want my right arm to be like super girly girlish. While my left arm is kind of darker.

Do you have any ideas on what I should get for either arm?

Answer
If you are a fan of something include the characters in some way. One of the guys in the band, Sleeping With Sirens has an entire leg of Pixar Characters. Pinterest is a great place to find tattoo ideas. There are tons of girls with boards dedicated just to tattoos.

How much would these tattoo's cost?

Ashley

http://pinterest.com/pin/281545414176070985/ I want it like this on my neck or behind my ear a little smaller.

http://data.whicdn.com/images/18496978/New-Dreamcatcher-Tattoos-2011-for-girls-and-ideas-for-maker_large.jpg
I want this one about half this size on my neck (if i don't get the cross).

I just want to know a ballpark price for both (black ink only). Thanks so much.

Answer
All tattoo artists are different..some are really high while others are reasonable..and the more detailed the tattoo, the more it will cost..i can tell you ballpark prices for around where i live...for the first one i'd say about $20-$30 since its small and not detailed at all...but for the second one, i would say around $60...but like i said, it really depends on the artist and how he/she prices their tats...

btw i like the second one better =]

i need a good idea, tip for a memorial tattoo for my grandfather?

brandi

he died of lung cancer in his young 60's, for the most part he was always healthy, vey hard working, seriously the hardest workin man i ever met. he really enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his 3 grandkids. throughout hs life he was a police officer, truck driver, factory maintenance, and did taxes on the side.

Answer
you could pick one of his most favorite things to do (a pastime) and have that tattooed on with his name or a date of some such on there, maybe even if he had a nickname for you, you could put that on there. I also like the idea of a portrait though those can get pretty large. My favorite though is to have the tree of life tattooed on with his initials on one of the branches, (have his initials be part of the tree so design them into the branch or leaf you want him on) A tattoo artist can help you out with the design specifics. Good Luck and I hope you love your new tattoo.

I am dissapointed by some of the responses to this plea for help. This poor girl has lost her grandfather and wishes to honor him in her way, she did not ask for anyone to tell her not to get a tattoo. Be Respectful, or leave the tattoo forum, for those who would like to discuss them

any good suggestions for a tattoo?

Wdyt: girls with half sleeve tattoos?

Cali All D

Answer
Saying that tattoos are gross makes you out to be an ignorant, judgmental, prudish bitch. Just saying. Tattoos are beautiful (when done by a skilled artist. I've seen some shitty tattoos before) if someone wants to get tattooed, who the hell are you to say they're gross or stupid? It's not your place, and nobody is judging you for NOT having tattoos so why can't you show the same respect? It's not about what the tattoo will look like 50 years from now.. it's about how it looks now, how it makes you feel, what it means to you. A tattoo will fade over time and not look as great as it did when you first got it, of course. But the meaning will stay with you, as fresh and beautiful as it was the day you got it. If a tattoo makes someone happy, makes them feel better about the way they look, commemorates the life of someone very dear to them, symbolizes an experience they went through or something they love, then that is not by ANY means "gross".
I understand that people will have differing opinions on tattoos, but honestly, it's one thing to say you don't like them and a whole different thing to be rude about it.
Tattoos are beautiful, on men AND women.

Teresa, that may be your opinion, but it is still rude, bitchy, judgemental, and makes you seem ignorant and prudish.

what do guys think about girls with half-sleeved tattooed arms?

Thrash Til

I want to get half of my arm sleeved and I was wondering if any guys out there find that attractive. I also want tattoos in other places.

Answer
a lot of guys don't like sleeved girls but a lot of guys do. i have friends (girls) who are sleeved and a lot of guys like their tattoos but there is definitely a stigma for girls who have large tattoos. a lot of people frown upon it but i say if you want it get it! just be sure that you chose an artist that is talented and worth your skin. good luck!

I think I lost Sexual Interest in this Girl?

Wish Angel

I really don't feel like it is directly my fault or anything and I love her still, but I would rather have sex with a different type of girl. She just feels to mundane in a boring traditional way.

I have always had a fixation with women who were unconventional and quirky. Like driving motorcycles and have tattoos while not being complete tools.

Anyways, I am not sure what to do. I don't want to break up or cheat. I feel like I put myself in a position to rely on her too much. I mean, I work but I am still in college and I don't want to live in my car.

I really don't like the idea of being with another women. The one I am with is just so.. Unexciting. Follows the rules, supports the status quo, likes to talk about nothing.. I am way different, I like to go to political protests, and mix things up daily.

Answer
Love and sex are two DIFFERENT things! And there are all kinds of love - you can love your dog, your job, your school work, your teacher, your friend, your mother and father, sisters and brothers - but you know the difference, right? You know that how you love your mother is not the same kind of love you would have for a girlfriend. It's not the same thing. And in this case, sex is not love - although people frequently get the two mixed up. Sex is about the body and physical attraction and stimulation and gross satisfaction. The fact is, you can get gross satisfaction with your hand, that is called, masturbation. Sex is nothing really, but masturbation INSIDE of someone else's body. Sex is also a way for two people to mutually join (spiritually that is)...but that is another matter. So the point I am making is, that if you love her but you find her sexually repugnant, then you can still love her - you are just not attracted to her sexually. And you just said that - you love her but don't like having sex with her. There are also some women you could have sex with and like having sex with, but you don't love them...just the opposite. What most people want and desire is that they BOTH love AND want sex with the other person. So if you find she is not your sex partner kind of person, then find someone else to have sex with or find someone else to love and have sex with...but just be certain you keep in mind that love and sex, while sometimes expressed in a relationship between two people, one has nothing to do with the other thing.

I would say, continue loving her, if you want - but find another person because nothing is worse than trying to have sex with someone who turns you off.

Prom dress and completely black high-top Converse chucks. Will this look cool?

I have got this dress for prom (or ball as we call it here) from Karen Walker. Image: http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/S2008RTW/KWALKER/00250m.jpg

It's obviously really girly and I just think it will look tacky with pretty, little high heels, so I was wondering if it will be cool to wear it with a black sort of gothic looking belt (maybe). Image: http://www.teenvogue.com/images/style/stsl-07-vamp0903.jpg

and all black Converse high-top chucks. Image: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/317YFRA9V2L.jpg

I was inspired by this photoshoot in Teen Vogue, so this is the look I want happening. Images:
http://www.teenvogue.com/images/style/stsl-04-vamp0903.jpg
http://www.teenvogue.com/images/style/stsl-03-vamp0903.jpg
http://www.teenvogue.com/images/style/stsl-05-vamp0903.jpg

I am going to paint my nails black and do my makeup like Alexa Chung. Image: http://www.seatwave.it/filestore/SEASON/IMAGE/alexa-chung_006507_1_MainPicture.jpg

What do you think? Will this look cool?
Umm... a ball in my country is kind of different to a prom in America. It's not nearly as over the top, so of course they will let me in wearing chucks.
I love how you are all saying it will look tacky, when the dress cost me $600. I don't see how you can make a $600 dress look tacky. The dress is Karen Walker. She shows at New York Fashion week and guess what? Every single shop assistant at Karen Walker wears her clothes, including this dress, with chucks. So I'm sorry. but I think you guys are the ones that have no idea about what is fashionable and what is tacky.

Answer
I think it's a very creative idea, and I can see the appeal of the juxtaposition of a delicate, beautiful dress with the black Converse, but I think that in time you may regret the decision. Have you ever looked at prom pictures from back in your parent's day when it was trendy for the guys to wear ruffled shirts with their tuxedos and the girls to have blue eye shadow, and sort of cringed? Converse sneakers are hip right now, but like most fads, their popularity will fade with time. I would strive for a more elegant, timeless look for your prom that will be less cringe-inducing to your future self.

That's not to say that you should abandon all creativity. I think the makeup and nails will be striking with your dress, and will give you a distinguished look.

You could always bring the Converse shoes with you and change into them towards the end of the night after the photos have been taken and the main event is winding down. The dress and the shoes would be quirky and fun, but better suited for the After-Prom than the main event.

If you really, truly, want to wear the Converse for the whole night, though, then do it. I'm contemplating getting a henna tattoo of a peacock on my back, out of sight from the camera lens but visible to everyone else, and though some may raise their brows or tsk-tsk and call it a fashion faux pas, I think I'll absolutely love it.

Whatever you wear, I hope you have a fabulous event and memories to cherish.

~ Pax / Peace : )

Edit:
I neglected to mention the belt in my original answer; I love it and think it would compliment the dress smashingly.
In regards to your added detail about the shop assistants at the Karen Walker store wearing Converse chucks: bear in mind that they are on their feet most of the day, and so for practical purposes more comfortable shoes are necessary. I imagine that for special occasions like the ball they would recommend wearing more sophisticated shoes. If you really didn't want to wear heels, then maybe you could wear sexy booties like these: http://www.kristopherdukes.com/images/Pedro-Garcia-booties.png

I need some tattoo ideas?

Kyle B

I'm getting a tattoo for my girl, without using words. I'm a scene/emo kid (thought i might stereotype myself so you get an idea of who i am and what i enjoy) plz give great detail about the design or use pictures! Also where at on my body? My right forearm is already taken! Anywhere works on my body besides there.
The word WITHOUT is there!! I don't tattoo words on my body because my thoughts could change!

Answer
Well, I'm not going to give you the gf/bf advice because everyone else already has and you are going to do what you are going to do. However, you may need to give a little input about yourself and your girl that can be represented visually if you want some online help. Emo/Scene doesn't really help unless you get something that involves musical connection between you two. Maybe take a look at a mutual favorite song and try to take the lyrics and think of the words as pictures and scenes. It's pretty easy, lyrics make great inspiration for visual representations.

hey i need some tattoo help?

hey im looking for a tattoo design of a girl and boy holding hand like a simple kinda stick figure 1 where could i find something like that

Answer
You can draw out a basic sketch of what you want (even if you have 0 artistic ability) then go to the tatoo parlor and the artist will sit with you and look at your sketch then try to improve it and you can tell him if you like it.

what about if your really curvy as i am size 16 (but i am going to the gym hoping to get all my fat down lol) dont think it would look nice unless you have a really nice figure..

Answer
Kristy, you already have too many tattoos! The more you get, the more you will regret them. Do you know the more tattoos you have the more you will be statistically associated with deviance and unhealthy behaviors? Reconsider getting tattooed! Tattoos are associated with mental illness and dysfunction. Peer-reviewed scientific studies conclude that tattooed and pierced people share characteristics with the following extremely undesirable groups of suffering and damaged people:

pickers
burners
head bangers
self cutters
self-injurers
dangerous risk takers
eating disorders
self-haters
substance abuser
depressed
socially alienated

âIn 1999 The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry listed tattooing and 'excessive piercing' along with picking, burning, head-banging and cutting as forms of self-injury. In The Journal of Psychosomatic Research (2006, volume 6, issue 4), Adolescence (2002, volume 37, issue 147), The Journal of Adolescent Health (2005, volume 36, issue 4), Deviant Behavior (2009, volume 30, issue 6) and Pediatrics (2002, volume 109, issue 60), tattooing and body piercing are associated with dangerous and sometimes lethal risk-taking behavior, eating disorders, self-loathing, substance abuse, depression and social alienation.â

Which of these groups are you a member of? If none, then please rethink your intention to get tattooed. Why would you want to advertise yourself to others as one of these hurting groups? Even if you are, do not embrace your disease-- resist! Avoid hurting yourselfâdonât get any tattoo.

Here's more alone these lines:

Tattoos and Mental Disorders:

âResearch conducted by Dr. William Cardasis at the Michigan Centre For Forensic Psychiatry reviewed the cases of patients who were considered unfit to stand trial or who were judged to be insane and found that a majority had both signs of ASPD and a strong tendency to be tattooed. The patients who had a greater number of tattoos, who had a greater percentage of their body surface tattooed and who wore tattoos in more visible places were all found to exhibit more aggression and to be engaging in behaviors such as cheating, lyring or stealing.â

This research about tattoos and personality was recently published in the journal Personality and Mental Health.

"Our findings suggest that forensic psychiatric inpatients with tattoos are significantly more likely to suffer from antisocial personality disorder than those without tattoos, and patients with antisocial personality disorder were also significantly more likely to have higher numbers of tattoos, a larger percentage of their body covered with tattoos, and tended to have tattoos in more visible locations" said lead researcher Dr. William Cardasis.

Student with tattoos Less Successful that Non Tattooed Counterparts

âA study by Glasgow's Strathcylde University shows that that students with tattoos have weaker study skills than their non-inked counterparts.â

Study Links âBody Artâ and Criminal Behavior

LUBBOCK, Texas, January 14, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new study titled "Body Art, Deviance, and American College Students" suggests that people who have multiple tattoos or body piercings are more likely to engage in risky and criminal behavior. The research by Jerome R. Koch, a sociology professor at Texas Tech University, reveals that those who have four or more tattoos, seven or more body piercings, or one "intimate piercing," are far more prone to use illegal drugs, be arrested for criminal offenses, cheat on college work, binge drink, and have multiple sex partners.

Does this make you think?

Tattoos Linked with Deviance

âResults indicate that social bonds, prior deviant involvement, self-protection, and negative self-appraisal all were predictive of tattoo acquisition.â

Tattoos Indicative of Sub-Optimal Performance

âone of the most consistent findings among Navy Seal instructors is that guys with tattoos tend not to make the grade.â The Warrior Elite: The Forging of Seal Class 228, By Dick Couch

It gets worse:

Criminals Communicate with Tattoos

âTattoos are ⦠used by criminals in societies all over the world as a way of displaying their gang affiliations as well as a personal history, including their specific criminal talents, records of accomplishments, and their past and current convictions.â Criminal Tattoos, October 2007

Moral of the story? Tattoos are bad, so matter what some fools tell you. Don't join this crowd! Stay away from tattooed people. Never go into a tattoo parlor. Good luck to you in your life.

I want a tat. NE body have some good sites or xamples? I would like a unique pic like a horoscope or celtic, aztec, tribal, etc. And/or phrase/poem. The phrase/poem would go on my forearms so when I put them across my body they connect like a puzzle. The phrase/poem needs to refer to family. The secureness, love, caring, etc of family. So the meaning of the words with my arms across my body like a hug gives a whole visual affect. Possibly in Spanish, French or Latin. Black or grey colors.
the words r goin on my arms, the pic will go on the deltoid area.

Answer
How old are you? If you are less than 22 you may want to reconsider. Think back to when you were 12, what tattoo would you have gotten then? If you had the blue power ranger tattooed on your back right now would you like it? What about 16? How cool are the goo goo dolls now? (Please replace the specific examples with something specific to you.) The same goes in 10 years. What will this phrase or poem mean to you then (besides that it has been on your forearms for 10 years)?

I understand they are a way to express yourself and I can dig that, but so is talking, t-shirts, music, cars and other things that aren't so permanent. Frat/sorority letters, military or other group insignias that are part of life changing experiences I can understand. The tribal Aztec armband? I don't get it. It isn't original anymore and it doesn't say anything about you. The hiragana and katakana symbols? Come on! 90% of the people who get them don't even know for sure what it means.

On top of that, they used to be taboo. Now 95% of the girls in college have a tramp stamp (pardon the expression) of a butterfly/dolphin/fairy/moon. They have lost the rarity that made them special.

If you get one, think long and hard about it and make sure it represents something that is very personal and long lasting. One last thing (if you got this far), I would stay away from the forearms and stick the tattoo somewhere that can be covered up by a shirt. In case you want to get a job where that is not considered acceptable.

What are some tattoo ideas for a girl.?

AVictoriaT

i like the look of brass knuckles and flowers and the bird the swallow.
but i need to open up my horizon and see what else would be nice.
i really adore tattoos & the look of them. So help me with ideas. Anything please (:

Answer
As a huge tattoo fan, and a tattooed person myself, my advice to you is this...

DO NOT get any tattoos that are mere fads (such as brass knuckles and nautical stars and swallows), and tattoos that do not mean a LOT to you personally.

Whenever I see brass knuckles or nautical stars or swallows or other "trendy" types of tattoos, I think... wow, that's stupid, and that person is going to regret that s**t when they're older. Why? Because it doesn't have anything to do with their beliefs or their personalities or them as individuals.

I believe that tattoos should be expressions of peoples' individuality. So think about what you love... what your beliefs are... what your favorite hobbies are... the things that you believe will NEVER CHANGE for you or about you... because if you get a boyfriend's name or a cartoon character or something on your skin, and then you stop liking those things, you're going to regret the tattoo, and it costs a hell of a lot and hurts a hell of a lot (from what I've heard) to have it removed.

So anyway, just think about what would be special to you personally, and think about it for quite a while before you actually commit to it, because... well, tattoos are forever!

Tattoo Ideas? 21yr old girl?

I'm very picky . I want my tattoo to actually mean something so I won't regret it when I'm older (y)

I lost a lot of family members due to death .

The locations I was thinking of was behind my neck or on the inside of my wrist.
I was also thinking of putting my dogs name with a paw print on the inside of my right wrist because he loves to put his arm there. And I raised him on my own since he was 6 weeks old
I was also thinking of putting my mom's first letter of her name with wings behind my neck because she's my backbone and my angel

I don't I been thinking of tattoo for the longest time but I always had a million thoughts of what to get .

Answer
I am sorry for the losses that you have experienced.

You a couple of ideas that could be worked out, but need to be thought out a bit more.
First, here's a good article on how to get a tattoo without regret:
http://galadarling.com/article/how-to-get-a-great-tattoo-and-never-regret-it
As to your ideas:
The one for your dog on your wrist - you are young and will have many animal friends in your life, and your dog now is very important to you, but you will have others too that will be important to you. If you do this idea, then it will probably represent your dog now, and the future pets that you will have.
The paw print on your wrist, however, could look too dark and heavy, and you may be surprised at that because the concept is a good one. The way to check this out is to get a Sharpie marker and draw it on your wrist and wear it around for a while. Also, you may be thinking smaller than is needed to hold up well over time. The letters need to be no smaller than 1/2" tall or they will blur. You should also consider asking for a 'fine line' needle if you do writing.
Here's some examples of this idea:
http://creativefan.com/important/cf/2012/02/wrist-tattoos-for-women/paw-wrist-tattoos.jpg
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/021/6/e/paw_print_tattoo_by_oomizuao-d4n3nxz.jpg
http://www.tattooimages.us/paw-print-tattoo-a-tattoo-is-innocent-as-a-tattoo-paw-print.html
As to your idea of your mother's initial with wings, you need to realize that some people will interpret this that she has died. But I like the idea. There are many different ways to do wings, and many ways to do letters. Take your time, and don't use images for reference that are 'tattoo' pictures. Instead find beautiful wings in photos and artwork.
Another idea that would be very pretty and feminine, would be to just have one feather:
http://www.scientificillustrator.com/art/bird/feather.jpg
http://www.scientificillustrator.com/art/bird/feather-small.jpg
with a beautiful font... Here's a font generator to help work that out:
http://tattoolettering.net/
This idea would look very nice on your shoulder blade.

Take your time, test out your ideas before you make them permanent, and think outside of your idea. ( I had this great wrist idea, but didn't realize that it would look like a watch from a distance until after I got the tattoo. I then added to my original design and turned it into a wrist bracelet, and it turned out great - but after much reworking of my idea).

luck~

I then added to my original design and turned it into a wrist bracelet, and it turned out great - but after much reworking of my idea).

luck~

First tattoo ideas for girls?

Lara

I've always wanted a small, discreet tattoo that has a great meaning behind it. I've been thinking of a rabbit tattoo, because my family calls me a rabbit, its our personal nickname for me. I'm 18 so I don't want to rush into it, I'll probably consider it for a couple more years. What are some cool, edgy tattoos? I want some really edgy ideas with a touch of feminity... and something I can easily hide. Can people suggest me good placements to get a tattoo, or cool designs or symbols with meaning behind it? I don't want fairies, stars, hearts, butterflies.. I want some original ideas that I can get inspiration from. Thanks! Oh and no disney or cartoon characters please.
I don't see anything wrong with tattoos with meanings behind them. Some people want to express something of symbolic importance that way and I personally think it's nice. So no rushed judgements or hasty words yeah? Thats fine if you don't like them, but if you don't like my question, why answer?

Answer
Ummmm...yeah.

First, you might consider that what you find cool or edgy now (at 18, in the year 2012) may be pretty foolish/silly/etc. just a few years down the road...let alone when you are 28, 38, 48, 58...etc.
Edgy or cool...these categories tend to be moving targets...or else it wouldn't BE "edgy", right? ;-)

The other thing you need to consider is not only placement in terms of "can I hide it"--you seem to be thinking enough about how you present yourself in the professional world, where tattoos tend to not be acceptable in terms of arm tattoos like Craig Ferguson, etc., so you are thinking well--but also in terms of HOW IS THE SKIN IN THIS AREA GOING TO CHANGE...? (Think: with age, with pregnancy, etc.)

A lot of "gosh, what a cute little tattoo"-type things along a bikini line might have turned into "OMG WTF _IS_ THAT?!" as someone has the skin stretch during pregnancy.

And your thinking about it is good--and while you are, please look at some old women with tattoos and realize that a clear, vibrant tattoo you get at 18, or 20/21 is probably going to fade, blur, etc. So simple and recognizable even with some blurring/fading might be smarter than some intricate thing which requires clarity and brightness in order to not look like a birth mark or a melanoma.

;-)

Is "tattoo concept artist" a real job?

Rebecca Lo

Okay, so I read a lot of fanfiction (don't judge too harshly, I read a lot of books too) and I was reading one where a man offered a girl a job as a tattoo designer. She drew out different designs and then he would do the actual tattooing. That got me wondering if that was something that could be pursued as an actual career (I mean how cool would it be to have someone love something you designed so much that they get it permanetly copied onto their skin?). Also, if it is something that could be pursued as a career, is there any extra information you can give me (like tips, links, helpful college courses, or anything smilar)?

Answer
Well, currently, I'm a tattoo designer. People contact me, I draw up a design and then they pay me for it. The difference is that I work for myself, not a tattoo artist. Eventually I plan to be a tattoo artist, but it's all baby steps.
The job your referring to does exist, in fact my last tattooist did commissions for an older tattoo artist when he was younger (before his apprenticeship).
Have you thought about becoming an actual tattoo artist? Your profits will be a lot better than just a tattoo designer. End of the day, most tattoo artists can draw themselves (ones that can't shouldn't be in the industry) and are unlikely to pay a middle-man to do the design when they can do it themselves.
The career you're thinking of would be difficult to find, and would take a hell of a lot of luck.
My advice for you is start charging for tattoo commissions now, for your self rather than for a tattooist. Then see where it takes you. If you want to do this you'll have to work hard to get yourself noticed in an already highly-saturated industry. You'll have to sell yourself. Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest and Deviantart to get your work noticed. Try and get featured on tattoo blogs and websites, and make sure all internet traffic goes back to you. It's hard. You'll have to shift through all the crappy designs to get that occasional amazing client who asks you to do something you actually enjoy. But it's the right way to go about it. When you've built up a portfolio take it around tattoo studios (or email them) and see if they're up for taking on a tattoo designer. Or at least try and sell them some flash. Ask them some advice on what direction you should head. You might even end up grabbing your self an apprenticeship, if that's what you decide you want to do.
In regards to college courses, the tattoo industry is a beaut, because it doesn't rely too much on qualifications. Essentially the only things you need are skill, patience and a hard working ethic. Obviously, if you can study art, this will help vastly. But a degree is not necessary.
There are also websites that pay you for collections of flash, which are downloadable for users.

Thigh tattoo ideas!? thanksss?

Madison D

Hey there!

I already have 3 tattoos, and im getting more...i want a tattoo on my upper outside thigh, but i cant think of what to get there.
All of my other tattoos have special meanings and etc, so for this tattoo im just going to do it because its "pretty" kinda thing lol
Here are my other tattoos
-2 kois on each side of my hip
-cherry blossoms on my lower back
-"my life ; my message" on my right rib

any ideas will help, i want something that will look good and not really random lol

thanks!

Answer
I think a geisha girl would look good on your thigh, if you want to go big. You can have the artist design it to fit in with the other Japanese style tattoos you have.
If you want to keep it smaller maybe a dragon that is simple in design, you can keep it feminine if you think dragons look too masculine and again, it would fit with your apparent japanese style.
Of coarse if you want something "pretty" just look around on the internet until you see something that is pretty to you and go with it.

Feminine / sissy tattoo desIgn?

marystoy_2

I am planning to get a tattoo to mark me as a sissy slave. We are not sure if we want to incorporate the slave part or just sissy. We are thinking inner thigh and something as simple as "sissy slave". Maybe the s would be formed as a whip and a pair of handcuffs hang from the e. Maybe pink, frilly script. Also thought of a pink heart with sissy or sissy slave inside. Maybe sissy girl. I am hoping someone has some good suggestions for a design or location. I would like it to not show normally but it is also pretty obvious I am a sissy from my hair, clothes and makeup so we are somewhat open as to location.

im thinking about a zodiac (scorpio) tattoo on my inner wrist?

BOOM BOOM

here's the inspiration:

http://tattoos-and-art.com/wp-content/gallery/scorpio-tattoos/star-sign-scorpio-tattoo-41835.jpg

i wouldn't get the flower designs along with it, just the "M" letter that would be small enough to fit on my left inner wrist. what do you think? is it too uncreative or a typical girl tattoo? is the wrist a good place to get it?

Answer
I would agree with you that zodiac symbols are "typical girl tattoos", but I also think they are awesome tattoos.
I also have a zodiac symbol on my inner wrist. It's the symbol for cancer and it's in blue and pink. It hurt a LOT! I have many tattoos and they all hurt but this one REALLY hurt.
I think you should go ahead and get it if you want it.

I am looking for a tattoo design that incorporates scorpio and libra zodiac signs together. any ideas?

cybersynge

I am a Scorpio woman engaged to a Libra man. Crazy, yes i know. Anyhoo, I am desperatly looking for a bad a** tattoo design that can morph the 2 signs together. I like the traditional "M" shape (if you will) of scorpio and the line with the arc shape on top for libra ( i'd settle for the scales also). Any ideas for a sweet design?

Answer
Although I don't typically encourage couple tattoos, my thought would be to place the middle shaft of the Scorpio symbol, through the hole in the Libra symbol. When you have it done, ask the artist to make the middle shaft appear to be behind the hole at the top of the hole in Libra, then in front of the bottom line. The outside shafts of the Scorpio symbols would be opposite of the middle, the left and right shafts covering the top line and going behind the bottom. Sounds complicated, but your artist will be able to visualize it. I would do the Scorpio in your favorite color, and the Libra in his. Or you could do the Scorpio in Pink, a nice dark pink, and the Libra in blue. I know, kind of cheesy, blue for boy pink for girl, but it would contrast nicely.

Tattoos on Girls?

Tonster

Do you think they are unattractive on girls. If I did, it would be music notes behind my ear and a design of a star moon and sun on my hip for my faith. Thanks

Answer
It all depends on what you get and who you have it done by.

Personally, I think most tattoos are gorgeous on the body (male or female). I've seen some massive tribal work done on girls and it was amazing. Your tattoo ideas sound lovely and would be rather easy to hide anyway.

At the end of the day though, it all depends on what you think and what you want to do with your body.

behind the ear? any ideas?

civic_kell

okay so i was thinking about getting a tattoo behind my ear (yu know the cute little tattoos girls are getting behind their ears)... do any of yu have one? and if so do they hurt?? on a scale of 1-10 please,,, with 10 being the most painful! && can yu all think of any ideas of being the ear tattoos? thanks (:

Answer
You should get a tattoo that means something, because it's permanent. Your tattoo artist will appreciate it more and so will you. Give them your story, ask them for an original sketch or design, tell them what you want, and then get it. Don't just get a tramp stamp.

Cross Tattoo Question?

Q. Alright, I feel a little naiive asking this... I want to get a tattoo of a cross on my back. I found a really pretty design, but it says that it's a tribal cross design. The point of a cross tattoo for me, the meaning, is that I believe in Jesus. Will having a "trible" cross alter that meaning somehow?

Answer
I'd say so! You're using styling that has roots in cultures that Christians label as heretics.

More than that, I would advise you to wait a while before getting the tattoo period. I know a girl who got a cross and bible verses over almost her entire back soon after she became of age. A few years later, she got into learning about the roots of Christianity, then on to learning about the roots of religion itself. After much research, she decided that, while her belief in God did not falter, she wasn't Christian anymore. Being stuck with a large tattoo of something you no longer identify with is quite the unfavorable disposition.

should i get a tattoo of a upside down cross on my hand?

V

so everytime i flick someone off it would show

Answer
Ultimately that is something only you can answer. It is your body, and your right to express yourself through body modification if you decided to.

Though, personally, I do not think it is an incredibly bright idea. A tattoo is something permanent, and too many people are flippant when getting them. Girls get butterflies, or stars because they are "pretty", and guys end up with skulls, dragons and flames for the sake of being "cool". It doesn't matter how good the work is, if there is not a significant emotional meaning behind a tattoo, it will only end up as a regret in the future. If you end up regretting a tattoo, you don't have many options. You can either deal with it, get it covered up with another design, or have laser removal. Cover ups aren't easy, as the artist needs to use the original tattoo as a foundation for the new design - it's not so much covered up as cleverly worked into a new design. Laser removal is expensive and painful, and if not done properly, can leave scarring.

You also have to think about job prospects - most industries will frown upon body modification that is visible as it reflects poorly on the company. I am fortunate to work in an industry that is very accepting of body modification (Photojournalist specialising in live music), but even so, all 24 of my tattoos can be covered if needed, as I know I won't be in live music photojournalism forever. And each tattoo carries the significant emotional meaning I mentioned earlier.

If all you want is to have it show when flipping someone off, I would seriously reconsider in your position. Never mind what it'll look like when your old... NOBODY'S skin looks pretty when they're old, so why not be old and colourful? But it is my honest opinion that you would end up seriously regretting a tattoo like that, in a very short period of time. Might be funny for a while, but the novelty will wear off.

Ultimately though, it's your body, and you will decorate it as you see fit. Just be prepared for repercussions if you do.

is it lame, copying tattoos?

byul

i love this girl's tattoos. so beautiful. i found pics on pinterest. anyway, i have no clue what it meant to her, but i know what it means to me. would it be lame of me if i copied it? not entirely, but i think it's a beautiful piece, yeah?

Answer
If the tattoo has personal significance to you, go for it! It probably means something completely different to the other girl, so in that sense, it's completely unique. If you don't know this girl at all, I say there's absolutely no problem. If it's one of your closest friends, and you just decide to copy their tattoo out of the blue, that would be a separate issue in my opinion.

What are some unique, feminine tattoos?

*CRAZY pan

I'm looking to get a tattoo pretty soon. I have an idea of what I want, so please don't tell me that I'm not ready for a tattoo, that they ruin my body and I'll hate it when I'm older, or whatever. I don't care about the hate, it's just annoying to read through when I'm trying to get an actual answer.
What are some cute, unique tattoo ideas for a female? If you could link pictures that would be cool too :)

Name tattoo........?

Harley Mam

Im looking for ideas for a name tattoo with two names. Does anyone know of any websites that I could find ideas. Thanks!!
it's a tattoo with my 2 kids names.........so i doubt i will ever regret it..........but thanks!

Answer
There are tons of websites for tattoo ideas. Here are a few:
ratemyink.com
tattoojohnny.com
tattoos.com
tattoonow.com

I think it's great to get your kid's names tattooed on you. You are right, it's something you will never regret.

To the girl who said he will regret getting a tattoo.. how do you know? Not everyone who has a tattoo is trashy and not everyone regrets their ink. I have 5 tattoos and I love them all. The oldest one is 14 years old and has not faded and looks as good as the day I got it. Please do not make assumptions on people and interests you know NOTHING about.

need some fresh ideas on how to get my kids names tattooed?

kat

i have 3 girls so far (maybe 1 more child in a few years also) there names are Indie, Nova and Milla.
i have my husbands name on my shoulder blade and was thinking to put them with that but not sure how.or would it look silly to have the kids names on a different are like wrist or something? what do u think? thanks :)

Answer
i think it would be fine either way, whether you want it with your husbands name or on a different area..
my personal preferance would be to do it in a different place like the ribs :) only cause i love that area, but the shoulder also has plenty of room to give
i am not sure how committed you are to getting a large tattoo, but i think if you just want a little something you could have your husbands name on a bow and then the ribbon would continue winding down with your little girls name on it
you could also get their birth flowers or something that reminds you of each of your girls independantly with or without their names around it (however i think if you take this route then it would look better without their names (personal prefrence tho :)))
regardless i would get a tattoo you could add onto flawlessly since you plan on having another child :)
hope this helps!
