Q. Okay i am an 18 year old girl and i want the words Memento mori..it is a Latin phrase meaning "Remember you will die" It was a phrase used through history to remind people not to be vain or think they are better than anyone else, because in the end we all die.

I just have no idea where to get it..and if i should get a picture with the words in in..any ideas?

Answer
This is a biased opinion, but i have two wrist tattoos and are absolutely in love with them. If you got Memento Mori written in a very nice script that would look great.

Guys: what would you think of a small rib tattoo on a woman?

tattoo design for girls hand on Brief History Of Finger Tattoos
tattoo design for girls hand image

anonymous/

I'm 18 and I really want to get a hamsa (hand of god) tattoo design on the side of my ribcage, but I want it to be relatively small. If I really want it in a few months I'm going to get it either way because it's my body, but I was just curious what you guys would think of that on a girl. It would be my only tattoo. Thanks! I'm a runner and stuff btw so it's not like I'm overweight and want to show off an unattractive part of my body.

Answer
Good thing.

How does a tattoo on your ribs feel?

Ashley

I want to get my first tattoo and I was really excited about it until people started making me feel like I can't handle the pain. I think I have a normal pain tolerance. Is it that bad where they would be trying to talk me out of it? I'm getting it anyway but I just want to know what to expect!

Thank you!

Answer
I've got a very large tattoo on my thigh (nee up to back) it took 10 hours in total, and i'm a very skinny girl. Did it hurt? yes it did. Nobody is not gonna feel anything when getting a tattoo. If your worried about the pain, i suggest taken pain killers before hand. Also try not to take brakes. If your going for a 4 hour session try push through. Reason being, i found you will go a bit numb after about 15 minuets. If you take a brake you'll have to start again. Also make sure you bring sugary drinks or juices to keep your blood sugar levels up.
You can also try distract yourself with a book or music.
Generally for most people, you don't feel any pain afterward. I had a little pain when laying on it, but this went away in 2 to 3 days.
Other then that..suck it up princess! If you like the design its worth it in the end.
Good luck

I want a tattoo- but I can't find a good, free website that has good ideas?

smallworld

so where do you all look for tattoo designs? just to give you a little background, I'm a girl..and I'm planning to get a small tattoo on my hip just above where hipster jeans rest...if that makes sense. I'm undecided on what I want- maybe a rose or lily design but I also think a heart or something celtic would be cute. I probably just want something that's all black but maybe a really soft yellow or orange/red would be nice too. my skin is reallllllly white and I'm realllllllly skinny...so yeah I'm having trouble finding pics I like. anyone know where I should look?

Answer
The below works for ideas, but I recommend you take them as suggestions for your own ideas. Most artists seem reticent on copying the art of others, but inspired by can work. I do recommend that you do something that's more you. It seems more satisfying to me to have something unique to me only.

I'm also really pale (but not skinny), and tattoos show up *really* well on us. When I get out of the shower my gf is always amazed at how bright my tattoo looks. Whether you go for B&W or color (like mine, the work thus far on my 360), the art really stands out.

Where can I find the best butterfly tattoos?

steph_pete

I was looking to have someone design my tattoo but I just think its going to be extra money and I might not even like the tattoo they draw. So im looking for a butterfly tattoo that I can put on my right shoulder blade. Im also looking for either chinese or arabic letters that can spell out Mimi. Thats what my grandfather use to call me. I am not sure yet what kind of letters I want but im not looking for "dirty" letters like cursive or anything english. I like soft letters that would look nice on a females body. I just think that american letters on a girl looks trashy (thats just my opinion). Please help!

Answer
You should look around the internet and modify one yourself. You should also be able to bring up a coupls of pictures you like to the tattoo place and have them do little changes themselves. I don't know if it will cost more or not, that seems like more of a decision the tattoo place makes themselves.

As far as the letters go you should be able to find a couple of translator websites that have those languages and translate something from English to Arabic (or whatever you want.) Since it is a translating website you can be pretty sure it doesn't say something random. Try Babblefish.

I'm planning on getting a tattoo but i don't know what i wanna get it of. I've been searching on the internet for nice designs (for a small-ish tattoo) but i can't find any. Anyone know any websites?

Answer
You know as great as the web is--IT IS NOT THE ONLY PLACE TO LOOK FOR TATTOO IDEAS!

The first place to look is yourself. What do you like? What is in your house or in your room that you just love and have loved forever? Were you a cheerleader from elementry school through college? Does your Grandmother wear a family birthstone crown that you love, but will go to you Cousin because she was the first grandchild? Have you ever walked into a fine store loved the unique design of an atomizer? Opened a book and thought an illustration really could jump off the page.

It's a big world--find those things that you love, that make you special, to have inked.

What's a good tattoo for a girl that's small and not a stereotypically feminine?

Cybele

I'm 20 and have been thinking about getting a small tattoo somewhere on my back or calf. However, I don't really want a butterfly or flowers or a typically "feminine" tattoos. My tastes tend towards the off-kilter, literary, or esoteric. Any suggestions? Pictures would be appreciated

Answer
i'm twenty too and have been searching for a meaningfull and unique tattoo. i suggest you get a tattoo of cherry blossoms.

yes, they are feminine being flowers, but i discovered that they are japan's national flower symbol. it's called sakura in japan and appear in spring but die shortly after its blossoms show. it represent the transiency of life- that like the sakura, "life is beautiful, but fleeting."

it may be pretty but still tough especially when you get to know it's meaning. personally, this is what i'll be getting for myself. below is a website you can search for great tattoo art and designs. use the keywords "cherry blossom tattoo" "sakura" to get see pics of a tattoo.

I just got a very small tattoo on my foot I want to get a bigger one somewhere u can see it but I don't know I'm not so sure yet of what to do? Do tattoos make girls look good or bad??

Answer
It all depends on the quality of the tattoo. Tattoos that are well done are always better than cheap ones that look like it was drawn on by a five-year-old. Go on, get some more tattoos if you want. Your body is a canvas and it's up to you to "paint" it.

Unless you have a crappy tattoo, there's no reason for you to feel ashamed of flaunting your tattoos. So make sure you go to a reputable tattoo parlor and look at their recent tattoo work.

How much does a small foot tattoo hurt?

Jamie

HONESTLY how much does a small foot tattoo hurt a girl I know got one and she said it was the worst pain every. What about you guys what was the experience like tell me about it like pain a scale from 1/10 10 the worst!!!

- Please and Thank You!!! : )

Answer
i've never gotten a tattoo there but i can imagine it would hurt more since it's not a very fatty part of the body . i can't stress it enough that the pain of the tattoo depends on your pain tolerance ! your friends tattoo on her foot might have felt like the worst pain to her and someone else might think getting it on their ribs is the worst pain. it all depends on you , besides if you want the tattoo there get it anyway ! people get tattoos alllll the time obviously the pain isn't that unbearable :)

What sort of drawings shall I include in my portfolio? Can someone help plz?

Hi
I really want to get into the tattooing industry and want to develop a really good portfolio to show different tattoo artists the work I can produce. I don't know what sort of drawing to include, shall I include copied work combined with my own ideas and designs? Shall I do detailed and simple drawings? And shall I use different materials? I really want my portfolio to be great! If there's any tattoo artists out there could you tell me what sort of stuff you look for please thank you

Answer
Portfolios in tattoo studios really do have EVERYTHING in them, so it's probably best to include all your pieces which are worthy. But if you need a few ideas to get started:

*Old school designs (e.g. pin-up girls, dice, flames, cherries),
*Photo-realistic portraits (copy photos of famous and non-famous people)
*Cartoon characters
*Animals
*Stars
*Celtic designs (e.g. crucifixes)
*Hearts
*Skulls
*Japanese and Chinese symbols for words like 'love'
*Traditional Japanese drawings (e.g.dragons and koi fish)
*Flowers
*Fairies
*Angels
*Spiritual and religious symbols (e.g. the Ohm symbol and the Star of David)

Where is the best spot for a tattoo, that you dont always want to be showing, and isnt in a "skanky" place?

Kat

Answer
First of all, keep in mind that even today in our "modern" "liberated" 21st century, people are still negatively judged for having tattoos. That's obvious here by the people that refer to a lower back tattoo, (those ones on your hips that show above your pants) as a "tramp stamp" . If you get a tattoo in a place where it is almost impossible to cover up, such as your wrist, people will always be able to see it and may judge you negatively by it. I know, people that love tatts will say in response to that "I don't care what people think". Well to that, I will say that you WILL care when that person that's judging you is someone who you are trying to get a job from! There are plenty of places that you will have trouble getting a job at if you have a tattoo that shows. And even with that aside, if this is your first tattoo, you may not like it being on your wrist later on in life. I would highly suggest NOT getting a wrist tattoo. If you just can't help yourself and really want one anyway, wait till you have several tattoos and are a bit more experienced with it to make that decision.

A belly tattoo will get stretched out of shape from if you ever experience pregnancy. Although a belly tattoo sounds sexy when you're still young and skinny, a tattoo on the belly can sometimes end up looking downright awful later on. So if you want one there, keep this in consideration and decide whether you can live with that risk or not.

If this is your first tattoo, I would HIGHLY suggest you get a small, simple one in a place that's easy to hide. A lot of girls like to get their first tattoo on their ankle or top of their foot somewhere. That is easy to cover up with socks, and if you wear open shoes where it shows, it usually doesn't look bad, and even looks cute and sexy there, small and quaint. Sometimes less is more.

Another place that's easy to hide is your back. I got my first tattoo on my back between my shoulder blades, it is just a simple black outline of a kitty cat, about the size of a small piece of fruit, like a lime or an apricot. Sometimes it shows if I wear a top that is lower in the back, like a cami, but it actually looks good that way because my tatt is simple and not really "flashy". Another benefit of getting it on your back is that if you keep having doubts about your tattoo after getting it, well then it's not "in your face" all the time cuz looking at your back is not something you do all that often, really. I have several on my back that have been there for years, and even today sometimes I'll be drying myself off from a shower and I'll catch a glimpse of them in the mirror and think "Oh yeah, that's right. I have tattoos there".

ALL tattoos hurt. Pain is a part of the experience. In general, the more "fleshy" body parts hurt less than the more "bony" parts. Yes I know, both the ankle and back spots I recommended are bony. But like I said, if you get a small one, it wont hurt for very long. The bottom line is ALL tattoos hurt, so you should really think about where you really want it to be for the rest of your life, not so much about where it will hurt the least. Compared to the rest of your life, the small amount of time you spend in pain getting your tattoo is really not that bad at all.

Dont get a tattoo just because it's trendy or popular. Do it for YOU, and pick a design that means something to YOU and you only. Artists always have lots of pictures to choose from, but what's better is if you draw or make your own, then it really is a unique one of a kind tattoo just for you. Pick something that's not likely to change over time, such as your zodiac symbol, a favorite animal or flower, or a religious symbol are some good ideas. Spend a LONG time thinking about it before you make a committment (6 months to a year is not too long. Even more is better, really). And the GOLDEN RULE of tattoos is NEVER EVER EVER tattoo someone else's name on you! The only exception to this is sometimes people tattoo their children's names on themselves.

Sorry this is so long, but you sounded like you needed some good advice and I hate to see young people make mistakes with tattoos just because they didn't know any better. My younger sister got a tattoo of someone's name in chinese characters on her wrist. Several years later she wasn't with that person anymore and had an artist cover it up with a drawing of her favorite animal, a lizard. But the old chinese characters still sortof show thru the new tattoo if you look at it carefully.

Good luck, I hope I've taught you something, and hope you pick out a really special tattoo that you'll enjoy all your life and never regret.

OK so I am planning on getting a tattoo on my shoulder I know a basic idea of what I want, just wanted to know if you have any ideas how to make it unique, OK so it would be the infinity sign with the word dream in it. I saw one that has birds flying away from it, which I thought was cute but im not to found of the birds so if you have any ideas or suggestions it would be appreciated.

Answer
Hey doll , welp not to put your tattoo down but i have seen millions of girls with that tattoo already so i understand why you want to make it unique . How about you find a tattoo that actually has some meaning to you ? Something symbolic . For example my mothers favorite flowers are orchids , so i want to get orchids tattooed on me . If the infinity tattoo with the word dream in it has a meaning for you or significance then awsome ! If not , then awesome too , i just think it would be better if it had meaning . You want something you won't regret when your 80 years old ! How about you get something like " keep on dreaming " in beautiful cursive on your upper shoulder with some butterflies flying away from it instead of birds. I dont know if you know about Jenny rivera , but her symbol was the butterfly because of how it transforms . Dreams transform from nothing into something beautiful , the way butterflies go from caterpillars on the ground .. To beauties flying with the wind .. Like a dream right ? So why not ? Orrrr ... You can go along with the infinity sign thing and have butterflies flying away from it . Up to you ! Good luck i hope it comes out gorgeous !

What kind of tattoo design go good with this story?

So I have two little brothers, two older sisters, and a older brother who passed away. I was thinking about getting two blue stars, two pink stars, and a white star to represent them. But everyone tells me stars are so common. It seems as though every girl wants to get the typical star tattoo. So what kind of tattoo would go good with all of this? Thanks

Twins mum

i was thinking maybe some stars i have a boy & girl are there any websites that let you design the tattoo and put in the names thanks

Answer
I don't know of any websites that will allow you to do that... TBH, the idea of an original tattoo would to not have one like anyone else. A website would have 'carbon copy' tattoos. My suggestion would be to call around to local tattoo artists, and give them your ideas on the size, location, colors, initials, and what you want it to look like. They'll draw up something and see if you like it. You can tell them if you want to make changes, and they will alter it. When you are satisfied they will quote you on a price, and tattoo it.

Tattoo design? Represent Gemini Twin and Other Sisters?

hey

Okay I am wondering anyone that is an artist that can help me..

I am a girl I have two older sisters and one younger sister.. my younger is consider a half sister but of course i dont' look at it.. so we are a group of 4.. I don't live near my sisters but they mean the world to me

Also I am a Gemini... that was an actual Twin.. But, my twin died.. So I wanted a tattoo design that represent the gemini. twin but also my other sisters included.. but i am not sure how to put it together any ideas? thanks
My twin died because she was a still born.

Answer
You could do the gemini sign in you and your sister's favorite colors.
Or have the artist savvily incorporate each of your initials into the design.
Color is more expensive, painful, n fades noticeably, so I'd be more keen to the 2nd idea.

ok so i know that tatoo's are on your body forever unless you pay tons of money to get them removed, but im thinking about getting my fiances initials tatooed next to mine. would you do it and why or why not?

Answer
Okay, my perspective on this has evolved, a little bit, both as I've come to learn and appreciate more about tattoos, and relationships. First, I much prefer initials over names, all across the board. I still don't like text tattoos, but if you feel the only possible way you can represent someone is through their initials, then so be it (if you can't think of a single other thing that reminds you of that person, and that would make you think of them, when you look at it, you need to re-evaluate your relationship). Second, no one ever likes to think about it, but take it from a soon-to-be-divorcee, not all relationships last. Some do, and they're beautiful, and wonderful, and perfect. But not all. Given that, consider how you feel about the owner of the initials, and your own M.O. in break-ups. Are you the kind of person who stays friends with your exes? Do you keep mementos and pictures to remind you of all the fun times you had, even though it might have ended badly? Or are you the sort that burns your exes' images in effigy? Do your friends automatically know not to refer to any of them by their actual given name in front of you?

If you're the former, get the tattoo. No matter what happens, it'll remind you of this person you love, and this time in your life. If you're the latter, don't do it. Get a heart, or a star that's his favorite color, or something else small, symbolic, and easily covered or incorporated into a greater work.

Finally, are you planning on having kids? Consider getting a tattoo that's representative of the two of you, that could be added on to, to represent the rest of your growing family. My favorite example is a tree, with flowers or fruit for each person. Or a group of animals, or a bouquet of flowers, or whatever floats your boat!

What do you think of this idea for my tattoo representing my passion for photography and children?

Q. Three blocks, like the wooden ones kids play with that have the letters on them, with a camera sitting on top of them
Dont answer my question if you are just going to talk down on it. I did not ask for your opinion on tattoos in general, I asked for opinions on my idea. I already have a tattoo which I love and two more planned before this one will be done.
Thank you to the others who are giving me honest answers on my idea. If you guys have other ideas on how I could make it more unique please fell free to include those in your answer :)
It isnt just a phase, I have been passionate about photography and children my whole life. I work right now as a bus monitor for kids with autism and I do photography jobs on the side. I am only 19 so I hope to do something more with my photography later on.

Answer
i like the block idea, but i'm not sure about the camera. not that i think a camera would be a bad idea i just think putting blocks (very un-detailed) with a camera (very detailed) would look kind of silly. try something a little less detailed to go with the blocks. here are a few ideas:

a polaroid (sp?) of a pile of blocks. maybe have the blocks say your initials.

blocks with a roll of film wrapping around them.

or maybe just do two completely separate tattoos.

those are just a few ideas, but it's really up to you. you're the one who has to wear it forever. good luck with it. i'm sure you'll enjoy it as long as it's something that you're passionate about.

Guys, what do you think of quote/word/statement tattoos on girls?

I'm getting a tattoo that says "Remember Forever" on my wrist and I have read (not to mention I also have a non-supportive friend) people saying that guys don't like girls with those kinds of tattoos.

I'm really just curious, and am getting the tattoo no matter what is said.

Also, if you like quote tattoos on girls, what is the 'best' place for the tattoo to go?

Answer
Please don't be insulted, but let me tell you the real truth. Quotes or "wise sayings" tattooed on your body are pretentious and mark you as an insecure person who is desperate for the approval of others. But you are trying to be worthy the wrong way. You can not make yourself worthy in the eyes of others by inking a philosophical saying into your living skin. You can only make yourself worthy in the eyes of others through your words and deeds. Having yourself tattooed marks you as a troubled individual with a rocky future ahead, not as some inspirational person.
Donât be fooled when you see some celebrity or entertainer with a tattoo. They are probably just an insecure mess on their road to self destruction. Look at Brittney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith or Amy Winehouse.
Wise up. Life is not a game. What you see on TV and on music videos are fantasy--fantasy life filtered through the consciousness of writers, musicians and producers - creative types who come from a Hollywood subculture filled with degradation and self indulgence. What they "teach" us through their art must be viewed suspiciously.

The true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Don't get tattooed. You will regret it. Tattoos are associated with mental illness and dysfunction. Peer-reviewed scientific studies conclude that tattooed and pierced people share characteristics with the following extremely undesirable groups of suffering and damaged people:
pickers
burners
head bangers
self cutters
self-injurers
dangerous risk takers
eating disorders
self-haters
substance abuser
depressed
socially alienated
âIn 1999 The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry listed tattooing and 'excessive piercing' along with picking, burning, head-banging and cutting as forms of self-injury. In The Journal of Psychosomatic Research (2006, volume 6, issue 4), Adolescence (2002, volume 37, issue 147), The Journal of Adolescent Health (2005, volume 36, issue 4), Deviant Behavior (2009, volume 30, issue 6) and Pediatrics (2002, volume 109, issue 60), tattooing and body piercing are associated with dangerous and sometimes lethal risk-taking behavior, eating disorders, self-loathing, substance abuse, depression and social alienation.â
Which of these groups are you a member of? If none, then please rethink your intention to get tattooed. Why would you want to advertise yourself to others as one of these hurting groups? Even if you are, do not embrace your disease-- resist! Avoid hurting yourselfâdonât get any tattoo.
Here's more alone these lines:
Tattoos and Mental Disorders:
âResearch conducted by Dr. William Cardasis at the Michigan Centre For Forensic Psychiatry reviewed the cases of patients who were considered unfit to stand trial or who were judged to be insane and found that a majority had both signs of ASPD and a strong tendency to be tattooed. Along with a strong lack of emotions, histories of mental and physical abuse and deviant behaviors, Cardasis found that almost three-quarters of his study group was tattooed. The patients who had a greater number of tattoos, who had a greater percentage of their body surface tattooed and who wore tattoos in more visible places were all found to exhibit more aggression and to be engaging in behaviors such as cheating, lying or stealing.â
This research about tattoos and personality was recently published in the journal Personality and Mental Health.
"Our findings suggest that forensic psychiatric inpatients with tattoos are significantly more likely to suffer from antisocial personality disorder than those without tattoos, and patients with antisocial personality disorder were also significantly more likely to have higher numbers of tattoos, a larger percentage of their body covered with tattoos, and tended to have tattoos in more visible locations" said lead researcher Dr. William Cardasis.
Student with tattoos Less Successful that Non Tattooed Counterparts
âA study by Glasgow's Strathcylde University shows that that students with tattoos have weaker study skills than their non-inked counterparts.â
Study Links âBody Artâ and Criminal Behavior
LUBBOCK, Texas, January 14, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new study titled "Body Art, Deviance, and American College Students" suggests that people who have multiple tattoos or body piercings are more likely to engage in risky and criminal behavior. The research by Jerome R. Koch, a sociology professor at Texas Tech University, reveals that those who have four or more tattoos, seven or more body piercings, or one "intimate piercing," are far more prone to use illegal drugs, be arrested for criminal offenses, cheat on college work, binge drink, and have multiple sex partners.

What is the best way to design your own tattoo?

Juliana

Is there a certain photoshop that I can get a free trial of to help me design tattoos?
Or does anyone have any ideas for a sleeve? I already have a Sailor Jerry anchor on my left forearm. I am getting a gypsy girl on my upper left arm this weekend. I want to stick with old school designs. Let me know if you have any tips, ideas, or anything! It could all help and be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
None that I'm aware of. It all comes out of your artist's brain and onto paper.
Either draw it out roughly or find some similar ideas on line. Let your artist know what style you want and see what they come up with. If you don't like what they drew up they can always change it for you.

Unique ideas for activities at a sweet 16?

polarbear0

I'm in the middle of planning my sweet sixteen party (My birthday isn't until the end of June, I just like to have everything set ahead of time) and it's going to be a dance party. We are hiring a DJ and a photo booth and renting out a ball room. I really want some more unique ideas that my guests (its a co-ed party) would like to do. I'm thinking about hiring someone to give out tarot card readings or perhaps someone to do henna art tattoos.

Does anyone else have a unique ideas for both girls and boys to do without necessarily having to stop the entire party to play a game? I'll probably have the photo booth (and whatever else I plan on doing) in a separate little section off the side.

Any ideas and do the other ideas sound good?

Answer
It sounds like you're already off to a great start with entertainment for your guests! Since you already have a photobooth and a DJ lined up, why don't you try setting up a faux casino! You can rent black jack, craps, and poker tables from a party rental company and set them up in a corner of your venue. When they arrive, give each guest a set amount of fake casino chips/money and let them loose on the tables! You can have parents or family friends run the games. (Have them dress up like dealers with vests, arm bands, and visors.) When friends are done playing, have a prize table where they can turn in their chips. Small gift cards, boxes of candy bars, and 2-liter bottles of pop are a lot of fun! (I chaperoned an after-prom that had a casino like this, and it was a hit!)

You could also have a make your own sundae bar, a bar with jars of candy with personalized bags for guests to fill and take home, or a cookie/cupcake decorating station.

You can also go with many other party classics: rent bouncey house inflatables and obstacle courses if you have the room, hire a guy who does balloon animals for a few hours (people love them!), or set up karaoke once the DJ has run through a few set lists.

Which sides should I get my tragus and triple forward helix?

SARAH

I am going to get my tragus pierced this weekend and I know I want to eventually get the triple forward helix too and I can't decide which sides they should go on. On my right side I have 3 regular piercings and my cartilage. On my left I just have 3 regular piercings and I plan on getting a small tattoo behind my left ear. Which piercing should go where?? Also I plan on getting all studs not rings if that affects the answer

Answer
I vote for tragus on your right ear, and triple forward helix on your left. Those are really pretty combinations, by the way :)

And just so you know, the girl who said that getting a piercing on whatever side means you're a lesbian... that's ridiculously false. The placement of a piercing has absolutely no relation to your sexuality; people just make that up because they lack something better to do with their lives, and it pisses me off just a tad when I see people saying that :)

I want to get "love is my religion". Or should i get just a heart ,then it says is my religion. Where should i get it tattooed on my body? Im a nineteen year old girl, I dont like lower back tattoo's and please no preaching about the bible saying you shouldnt mark your body. Im going to get a tattoo, so please just let me know your thoughts on the tattoo and where i should get it. thankyou!

Answer
Which design idea seems to make your heart beat just a little faster? Go with your instinct! Also, if you wanna give it a "test drive," get a henna tattoo of your design, and try different places. That way you can see where you'll want your design, and which design you'd like! I would say "Love is my religion" but that's just my preference. Ignore anyone preaching about that bible stuff, it also states not to wear clothing of mixed material, and to not cut your hair, which I'm sure the people behind those computers have done so. On the back of your shoulder is a good place, not very painful. The back of your neck, the upper inner part of your arm, your wrist, your ribs (ouch), your ankle, across the upper part of your back (if you get the full phrase), on your upper thigh (if the heart), on your hip, on your stomach above your jean line (if you get the full phrase. But again, OUCH) or you could get the phrase running along the outer side of your arm, wrist to elbow. Hope some of these ideas might have helped!

What's your own personal opinion about tattoos?

Monica

Im doing a paper on how tattoos have changed over the years and I need to know what people right now think of them.

Answer
I like them. I have two, both on my upper arms, and I'm planning on getting a sleeve done soon.

Tattoos have become *very* mainstream in the last 20 years or so, which I think is a bit of a mixed bag.

One of the best things to come of this is the fact that tattoo discrimination is on the decline. If you had a reasonably prominent tattoo (by which I mean behind the ear, on the wrist or somewhere similar) in the 70s, you didn't have a hope of getting a normal, decent job, whereas tattoos in the workplace are quite common now.

On the downside, because tattoos are so common and accepted, it's easy for people to get stupid, trivial, crap tattoos. I don't think most of them realise just how long forever is. Boy/girlfriends names, flashart they picked off the wall, misspelled quotes, stupid, stupid sh1t. There are a hundred questions a day in here, all going "lot wat tatoo shud i get i like want sumting cute/dat girls will like/a quote that means sumting to me lol". That is not how it works. That is not how it is supposed to work. You are supposed to come up with an idea yourself. You are supposed to design it yourself, or if you can't, ask someone who can. You are then supposed to take that drawing, stick it on your wall and look at it every day for six months. And if you still love it after six months, THEN book it in. Get it where you want it to be, not wherever it'll be easiest to hide from your parents.

I've seen pictures of a 20-odd year old girl with no tattoos bar a ginger root on her neck. Besides the fact that it was obviously copied from a stock photo, it just looked likd a birthmark. All over her neck, impossible to hide. There was a time when an artist wouldn't go near your neck or hands if you weren't already covered.
