Would this be a good tattoo idea?

Tina

I want to get this quote on my back "good vibes" And i was talking to one of my friends about it, and this one girl butts and and says "only people who smoke would should get that." She was really annoying. So my question is, is it a good tattoo idea to get? I've never smoked weed, but i'm also not against it. And this quote to me personally means to enjoy life and stop making it so complicated with unnecessary bullshit.

Answer
If the tattoo means something to you then it's a good idea. Don't worry about what other people think about it. It's on your body, not theirs. What you put on your body should have nothing to do with anyone else but you.

Help me pick a quote for my tattoo!?

.Tattoo

Okay. So I'm getting a tattoo today and I'm having a hard time deciding on a quote for it. These are a few of the ones I've thought of, that I've liked for quite some time.
- Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger.
- What's meant to be will always find its way.
- We accept the love we think we deserve.
- Through every dark night, there's a bright day.
- Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.
- The greatest loss is what dies inside us while still alive.

Please help me pick one! Or any other ideas are welcome too!!(:

--Thank you(:
Hahahaha, Brieanne, I already have 10 tattoos. I love them all and all are deeply meaningful to me. And mine don't look trashy. They look beautiful. But thanks for trying to sway my mind anyway, hun!!(:
James-- You don't have to wait for that question. I already know where it's gonna go. I've been wanting to get a tattoo in this place for a few years but just haven't done it yet. And I love all of those quotes. But I can't get them all. So I'm simply asking people for their opinions. I know it's ultimately my decision. But every one of those quotes holds a meaning to me. Otherwise I wouldn't be considering any of them. I'm just stumped. That's it. No need to get all butthurt over my question, lol.

Thanks to those of you who are actually answering my question. If you don't like tattoos, if you think tattoos are trashy or whatever, DON'T BE ANSWERING IN THE "TATTOOS" CATEGORY!! Nobody likes a Debbie Downer(:

Answer
Brieanne...girl, she didn't ask for your opinion on tattoos, shut it no one cares.

I love "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery", you should get that :)
I was actually thinking about getting that for my first tattoo, but I can't make up my mind haha
Bob Marley is amazing!!

To the side i want it to say "whats your interpretation?" If any of you have ideas please help also i know alot of you are great at sketching so if you have time feel free to post yours thanks so much guys!!

Answer
Well, it sounds like a fantastic tattoo. Pin-up art is always popular and never goes out of style.

Your best bet would be to find a tattoo artist and pay your deposit and have him or her draw up the pin-up girl for you. I really doubt you're going to find anyone willing to draw it up for free.

Guys question about Tattoos?

Jessy bayb

Ok guys do you like tattoos on women? I'm not talking about being covered in them! . I have two, one on the side of my hand and one on my ankle. If you dont like them why? and if you do how many would you feel was appropriate (and where)? Ladies can answer to :) (about other girls and also about guys ;)

Answer
I really like tattoos. I am not attracted to women like Kat Von D but I don't think they look bad either, it's just that their look is not my thing. As long as the tattoos are well done I would really like to talk to a girl about her tattoos. If the tattoo is a butterfly or a chinese symbol may be not but an interesting design is something I would like to see on girls.

tattoo ideas for girls?

abby

I'm a girl and need ideas for a tattoo I want. Maybe something about love but I dont really want anything about my boyfriend too much. But hearts and girl stuff or sayings?

I want something maybbbbeee on my foot or behind the ear. But i like stuff on the back too.

Answer
I think that websites are a good place to start looking as they enable you to get ideas on designs/colours/patterns etc.

I would say though, don't rush into anything! But also don't let anyone tell you that you NEED to have some sort of hidden/special meaning behind your tattoo either - your first tattoo will always be special to you anyway because it is your first :)

I had my first one done on my foot and I love it!

behind the ear? any ideas?

civic_kell

okay so i was thinking about getting a tattoo behind my ear (yu know the cute little tattoos girls are getting behind their ears)... do any of yu have one? and if so do they hurt?? on a scale of 1-10 please,,, with 10 being the most painful! && can yu all think of any ideas of being the ear tattoos? thanks (:

Answer
You should get a tattoo that means something, because it's permanent. Your tattoo artist will appreciate it more and so will you. Give them your story, ask them for an original sketch or design, tell them what you want, and then get it. Don't just get a tramp stamp.

Should pretty girls have tattoos?

Kezz

What's your opinion on really pretty girls with tattoos? I don't mean OTT tattoos like sleeves and everything but a tattoo every here and there

Answer
Personally I like them because no matter how pretty you are, small tattoos show individuality and can have great meanings connected with them. But, I would probably only have a small tatoo that I can hide so not everyone has to see it. Hope this helps

I read The Hunger Games trilogy and the The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo trilogy, what should I read next?

Eli

Over the past year I read The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo, The Girl who played with Fire, The Girl who Kicked the the Hornets Nest, The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and now I have just finished Mockingjay. What should I read next?

Answer
The Divergent Trilogy. Divergent is the only book I have EVER reread (and that says a lot about how much I like it!). I think it's twice as good as the Hunger Games trilogy! The first book is Divergent. The second book is Insurgent. The third book isn't out yet. Here is an overview of Divergent.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtueâCandor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really isâshe can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really areâand where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Guys, what do you think of quote/word/statement tattoos on girls?

ruby

I'm getting a tattoo that says "Remember Forever" on my wrist and I have read (not to mention I also have a non-supportive friend) people saying that guys don't like girls with those kinds of tattoos.

I'm really just curious, and am getting the tattoo no matter what is said.

Also, if you like quote tattoos on girls, what is the 'best' place for the tattoo to go?

Answer
Please don't be insulted, but let me tell you the real truth. Quotes or "wise sayings" tattooed on your body are pretentious and mark you as an insecure person who is desperate for the approval of others. But you are trying to be worthy the wrong way. You can not make yourself worthy in the eyes of others by inking a philosophical saying into your living skin. You can only make yourself worthy in the eyes of others through your words and deeds. Having yourself tattooed marks you as a troubled individual with a rocky future ahead, not as some inspirational person.
Donât be fooled when you see some celebrity or entertainer with a tattoo. They are probably just an insecure mess on their road to self destruction. Look at Brittney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith or Amy Winehouse.
Wise up. Life is not a game. What you see on TV and on music videos are fantasy--fantasy life filtered through the consciousness of writers, musicians and producers - creative types who come from a Hollywood subculture filled with degradation and self indulgence. What they "teach" us through their art must be viewed suspiciously.

The true cost of a tattoo is a lifetime of regret. There is an 80% chance you will regret it in your lifetime. Many people will look at you with disgust, for tattoos are offensive to many, many people. Don't get tattooed. You will regret it. Tattoos are associated with mental illness and dysfunction. Peer-reviewed scientific studies conclude that tattooed and pierced people share characteristics with the following extremely undesirable groups of suffering and damaged people:
pickers
burners
head bangers
self cutters
self-injurers
dangerous risk takers
eating disorders
self-haters
substance abuser
depressed
socially alienated
âIn 1999 The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry listed tattooing and 'excessive piercing' along with picking, burning, head-banging and cutting as forms of self-injury. In The Journal of Psychosomatic Research (2006, volume 6, issue 4), Adolescence (2002, volume 37, issue 147), The Journal of Adolescent Health (2005, volume 36, issue 4), Deviant Behavior (2009, volume 30, issue 6) and Pediatrics (2002, volume 109, issue 60), tattooing and body piercing are associated with dangerous and sometimes lethal risk-taking behavior, eating disorders, self-loathing, substance abuse, depression and social alienation.â
Which of these groups are you a member of? If none, then please rethink your intention to get tattooed. Why would you want to advertise yourself to others as one of these hurting groups? Even if you are, do not embrace your disease-- resist! Avoid hurting yourselfâdonât get any tattoo.
Here's more alone these lines:
Tattoos and Mental Disorders:
âResearch conducted by Dr. William Cardasis at the Michigan Centre For Forensic Psychiatry reviewed the cases of patients who were considered unfit to stand trial or who were judged to be insane and found that a majority had both signs of ASPD and a strong tendency to be tattooed. Along with a strong lack of emotions, histories of mental and physical abuse and deviant behaviors, Cardasis found that almost three-quarters of his study group was tattooed. The patients who had a greater number of tattoos, who had a greater percentage of their body surface tattooed and who wore tattoos in more visible places were all found to exhibit more aggression and to be engaging in behaviors such as cheating, lying or stealing.â
This research about tattoos and personality was recently published in the journal Personality and Mental Health.
"Our findings suggest that forensic psychiatric inpatients with tattoos are significantly more likely to suffer from antisocial personality disorder than those without tattoos, and patients with antisocial personality disorder were also significantly more likely to have higher numbers of tattoos, a larger percentage of their body covered with tattoos, and tended to have tattoos in more visible locations" said lead researcher Dr. William Cardasis.
Student with tattoos Less Successful that Non Tattooed Counterparts
âA study by Glasgow's Strathcylde University shows that that students with tattoos have weaker study skills than their non-inked counterparts.â
Study Links âBody Artâ and Criminal Behavior
LUBBOCK, Texas, January 14, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new study titled "Body Art, Deviance, and American College Students" suggests that people who have multiple tattoos or body piercings are more likely to engage in risky and criminal behavior. The research by Jerome R. Koch, a sociology professor at Texas Tech University, reveals that those who have four or more tattoos, seven or more body piercings, or one "intimate piercing," are far more prone to use illegal drugs, be arrested for criminal offenses, cheat on college work, binge drink, and have multiple sex partners.

Tattoo ?

FreyaWhite

I'm getting a tattoo for my 17th birthday(Yes I do know you have to be 18)
And I have no ideas of what to get at all. The idea of choosing something that has to stay with my through my life is daunting.
Ive googled tattoo designs but nothing good comes up. So any ideas?
Im looking for something artistic. Im a girly girl. Nothing too big. Any ideas?
Also would I be able to design my own and hand it in to the tattoo artist?

Answer
Ask yourself why do you feel that you have to get a tattoo, when you have no idea what you want, and you're not sure how you feel about having one for your whole life. What's your hurry? Someone holding a gun to your head?
Really, it is a good rule of thumb, to not get a tattoo, unless you have an image/idea that you thought of yourself, always related to, or just 'knew' that it was right for you. If you have nothing in your head, please don't just grab something, just to do it. There are a lot of other good ideas for your 17th birthday gift.
If you 'just have to do it' .. well my advise would be to go for a flower. (unless you hate them..) but they age well, there is a huge variety or shape, style, color, and size. They can be placed anywhere and go with anything. When you are old, you will still love your flower.
So, now you think, look, search, (if you really want one). Or wait,.. there is no hurry.
Here is a good source site:http://tattoo.about.com/
Here are a few tattoo worthy flowers:

http://fine-art-prints-store.com/images/15300-red-rose.jpg
http://dpnow.com/galleries/data/500/2007-03-15-purple-flower-2-.jpg
Make sure that you find a well established, experienced, licensed artist, and that way you won't be looking for a cover up tattoo, or laser removal within 5 years.
Good luck with your decision.

Need Tattoo design Ideas?

Danielle H

I want a tattoo but I need some idea's... I was wanting a rose I know that much its going to symbolize the fact that I'm a rape survivor... just wondering if anyone has some sort of idea. Also if you have some sort of saying idea to go around or through the tattoo would be nice.

Getting this tattoo is basically my way of saying that I'm tired of being scared what other people will think and that I'm not scared of the people who raped me anymore and that I am ready to stop being silent.

Answer
Great tattoo idea! You go girl!

The first thing that came to my mind were the words "Still Standing" or "The past is the past. The future is mine." Imagine that on a ribbon, scroll, or arched over a bright red rose. Kind of like these:

helllppp..tattoo ideas for a girl?

AngelaLynn

I want to get a tattoo..not sure of what or where exactly. I want it to symbolize something. Some ideas i have are..

something to do with my two sisters
something to do with overcoming obstacles in life
quotes or words would be okay?

I just want something meaningful, classy, and unique..

I want it to be somewhat small..and I'm open to ANY options.. i am open to suggestions. :)

Answer
flowers are beautiful pieces for tattoos. the thing about them, is that each flower has a significant meaning. i got a tiger lily on my hip because it represents strength and wealth. if you really love where you were born, you could get that state flower, etc etc.. here is a list of flower meanings.. if you google "flower meanings" you can find even more! hope this helped!

http://www.aboutflowers.com/flower-a-plant-information-and-photos/meanings-of-flowers.html

my tattoo i have is a tiger lily, and it represents strength and wealth..
im not wealthy, but i hope to be when i officially grow up! it represents my goals, and what i want in life. that way, every time i look at it, it pushes me to succeed and remember what im working so hard for :)

hope this helps!

Tattoos??????????????

Q. Any good ideas for tattoos?? I'm a girl btw but im up for anything lol

Answer
To the kid who said Tattoos are not attractive...I'm sorry you feel this way but most see them as art. So! That's like telling someone you think a certain painting is silly or ugly. But I'm sure she loves your input. Anyways. I like old school tattoos. Things like anchors or mermaids. Even some really nice script is pretty classy. Depending on where you want it.

Question about inner wrist tattoo?

Sofia

I want to get an anchor with two sparrows (one on each side) holding a scroll with my grandpas name on it (he was in the navy.) I want to get it on my left inner wrist, slightly below the where your wrist folds. How bad do tattoos on the wrist hurt? And also, since this would be near a major vein, are there any risks with getting this tattoo? (I know all tattoos have risks, but I mean any risks that apply to only this area on the wrist.)

Answer
Tattoos DO hurt, but they hurt in some places more than others. The wrist happens to be one of those places. The LEVEL of pain, that's all more of a subjective answer. Some people can handle tattooing their eyeballs while others can't bear the pain of scratching their finger on a cotton ball.

Ask three people about how much a tattoo hurts and you'll get three completely different answers. Some will say the pain was unbearable, some will say it hurt, but not too bad. Some will say they got orgasms from the pleasure.

In reality, it will hurt, but only as much as you want it to hurt. Don't stress yourself out when you're getting it (if this is your first), because then you're setting yourself up to go apesh!t when the artist barely turns on the gun and you hear the buzzing sound. (I did that, haha. I didn't necessarily show it but i was going crazy once i heard zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

ONE IMPORTANT THING: I realised what helped was DON'T TRY TO IGNORE IT! My tattoo covers my entire inner forearm, from the crook of the elbow to the wrist. So i was there for quite a while. At one point i thought to just look away and stare at the fish, ignoring it. Bad idea because there was more of a surprise to the pain every time the artist stopped to re-ink the gun.
Getting a tattoo is really a philosophical moment. I learned to just watch, slightly brace myself, and accept the pain. It was hurting, and there wasn't a thing i could do, so i accepted it. And it ended up being REAAALLY easy to handle after that.

So yeah, back to ACTUALLY answering your question (I have a tendency to rant a lot haha), the wrist is pretty sensitive. From how you describe it it's going to be partly on the wrist with some on the inner arm, where there is more muscle and fat to make it less ouchy-ful. But with any tattoo, i find that i just helps to relax and accept it. Also, talk it out with whoever your artist is! A real good artist isn't just good with ink but with people. He or She will know that youre nervous, will be a little bit more sensitive with this particular tattoo than with others, and SHOULD act appropriately. Talk to you, talk you through the process. If you need to, ask him or her for a quick break every now and then, if possible. This tattoo sounds like it'll be pretty small, so you shouldn't be under the needle for more than a few hours. Those hours will pass like days or minutes, depending on your state of mind. You don't need to be drunk or high to relax, just REEEELLLLAAAAAXXXX ;) Like i said, accept that it's going to hurt, but it shouldnt be torture unless you're really freaking out. It's the theory of relativity. Einstein said that if i were to sit with a pretty girl like you for a hour, it would seem like an minute; but if i were to sit on a hot plate for a minute, it would seem like an hour. (Alternatively if you were to sit with me for a minute, it would seem like an hour...because...im a loser and i talk too much. :( Forever Alone) Naahh just kidding ;)

So yeah, as for the risk thing, shouldnt be a problem as long as you're normal and your artist is doing it CORRECTLY. The needle barely goes into the skin, not even deep enough to reach the veins, or something like that... He's tattooing you, not etching you. Either way it shouldn't be a problem because my tattoo has a deep, dark line that actually runs right on top of the vein (pretty cool...gives it a nice 3D effect). Actually when i got my first tattoo i had a bit of a scrape that was still open, and the guy shaded right over the raw skin...that butthole. Apart from having to amputate my hand because of infections im perfectly fine. KIDDING!

Well that was enough bad jokes for one post if i do say so myself. Hope this helps you. I'm guessing this is your first or it probably is your 100th...which makes me an idiot. But oh well!!! Best of luck and remember...just take a Relax Pill... no wait..that's not it...

Why do people need tattoes so badly, whats wrong with jewelry?

the sponge

Ive known lots of people that love to put a unique design on their bodies something they can cherish and to show off their personality and thats cool but at the same time i like a girl more without these things and if it was a girl i would love her just as much if she didnt have anything on her. Why sacrifice pain and blood for permanent art? Diamonds are much more valuble and last even longer than a human life. And jewelry has unlimited designs. Girls why cant i look at your personality, and admire its beauty? And thats without any apperance inhancers.

Answer
<--------- That's my tattoo.

Some people get tattoos to commemorate a special person or event in their lives. To honor that occasion or person, if you will.

Some people get tattoos to help overcome some kind of issue in their lives. Like abuse, or addiction.

Some people get tattoos to alter their bodies because they either want to enhance or increase beauty.

Some people get tattoos to cover up scar tissue or signs of surgery.,

Some people get tattoos because it's part of their culture.

i think it's great that you look at women for their personalities.....that's kind of rare....but don't judge the ladies with tatts too much. There is usually a story behind it...and a good one. And that story will tell you a lot about the woman.

what do you guys think?...?

and a tattoo on my back and foot for my sister and mom (:

tell me what you think

Answer
Great ideas! I love them all! I have my ears stretched to 5mm. I have black plugs and they look awesome! Double nose is cool, as long as you keep a stud and ring in. Don't keep the same kind of jewelry in. I have a nose ring (I'm a dude BTW) and I love it. I've never seen a horizontal eyebrow before, but that seems cool and I want one now. Looks painful though, but no pain no gain. Tongues are very nice and sexy. They're such a turn on. The piercing part is painless, but its a pain to talk with one after a week Cuz it swells. But its worth it. Smiley piercings are pretty cool. Although its hard to see them, they're sexy when you can. Neck piercings are really cool too. I like your taste. Neck piercings are really cool to look at it. Its rare to see them, which is cool to see them. The neck tattoo is really cool. I like it! It will go great with the piercing. The collarbone tattoo is a great idea! I love that placement with a design like that. It is very easy to build off of if you want to add more to it. Hope I helped!

Ex - Hearts, Stars.

But the way its designed

Answer
The best tattoo idea for a girl is to stay far, far away from tattoos and those who have them. Any tattoo is a vulgar attack on the decency of man. And yet, more and more young people are buying into the Hollywood poison that tattoos are cool ways to âexpressâ yourself. But it is not true. You should express yourself with your words and actions, not by inking graffiti onto your living flesh. The message you will actually convey with a tattoo is âI am foolishâ, âI am unemployableâ âI make bad decisionsâ âI am a gullible robot that will do whatever I see on TVâ. I suggest you do not get a tattoo. A tattoo is a permanent cartoon-like drawing that will permanently your body like ugly graffiti defaces a public building. There is an 80% chance you will regret it, especially when you start to notice how regular, normal people react to you. They will look at you with disgust and pity, and over time, it will really get to you. Nothing illustrates the degeneration of western culture more than blind youth permanently disfiguring themselves over some warped idea of âexpressionâ Tattoos are permanent. You can not take them back.

âAll it takes for Evil to prevail in this world is for good men to do nothingâ. Edmund Burke

tattoo ideas for a girl?

Desiree

I really love this tattoo.

opinions?

I really want to get a small tattoo either on the back of my neck or my wrist. Something classy, appropriate, and not a full sleeve or anything. Maybe shoulder blade. I need ideas! I would love quotes or something nice like that... any ideas? Here are a couple that I like...

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m7h9qd2lg31qhltk3o1_500.jpg (except I would prob get on my shoulder blade and smaller!)

Answer
Both of those are adorable. Animal tattoos are great. Don't listen to what people say about your tattoos HAVING to mean something to you. If elephants are your favorite animal, get that inked! And if it's not, who cares? It's beautiful. You and your body give meaning to the tattoo, not the other way around.
If you go into a parlor, there will be lots of symbols and animals to look at in the portfolios. You can also look at different fonts and scripts if you do end up getting a quote.
Look in your favorite books or movies. Quotes have a tendency to look really really cheesy, so I wouldn't go for something like "follow your dreams". Quotes are where the meaning ACTUALLY needs to be significant, if you understand me.

Ideas/quotes for a tattoo?

Katie

I am a 17 year old girl. No lectures on age please, my friends parents own the tattoo studio and they are willing to do it.

I want a word tattoo that is meaningful. I like the words "Live hard, die fast." But that is quite negative!

Does anyone have any meaninful words for a tattoo? Thanks

Answer
Dont worry I have 7 tattoos at 17:) Live Fast, Die hard is soooo overused now its not even cool.

quotes-
Upon Us All A Little Rain Must Fall
Life without love is like a tree without blossoms
Let It Be(I have this one on my wrist)
The Kids Of Yesterday
Do It Now and Do It Loud(love this!)
Party Poison(I love my chemical romance)
Bulletproof Heart(which to me means that no one can hurt me.Not even those close to me. I want this one)

Tattoo placement question?

Kaitlyn

http://www.yusrablog.com/tattoos/more-stunning-infinity-tattoo-designs-for-girls/attachment/infinito/

Left hip area is where I would want it, red or hot pink flowers probably.
I am not very tall, (5'0,)
Not sure how the tattoo would look on my hip. Should I make it smaller, and where on the hip would it look good, higher or lower, what's the beat place for it, when I have a baby. Any info would be great

Answer
If you get a tattoo on your hip (being a girl) when you get pregnant or if you get bigger in the future it may stretch it or you may get stretch marks threw the tattoo. That happened to my sister. My advise get it smaller and higher up or put on a place that wont stretch or get bigger like your upper back or feet or neck or hands etc.
Hope this helped some!

Tattoo design...placing?

Q. I want to get a tattoo of a willow tree (not overly big) with "under the willow tree" in cursive underneath it but i dont know where to place it. I would have liked to put it on the back of my neck but there is already a tattoo there, and i have one on my foot. I dont want a huge one so on my back wont work...where would it look nice on a female??

Answer
dont get it on your arm, the only arm tattoos on girls that look good are actual full sleeves in my opinion, why not get it on your ribs or a hip or an ankle (inside or out). depends on how big you want it as well.

Tattoo Ideas? 21yr old girl?

Rosella M

I'm very picky . I want my tattoo to actually mean something so I won't regret it when I'm older (y)

I lost a lot of family members due to death .

The locations I was thinking of was behind my neck or on the inside of my wrist.
I was also thinking of putting my dogs name with a paw print on the inside of my right wrist because he loves to put his arm there. And I raised him on my own since he was 6 weeks old
I was also thinking of putting my mom's first letter of her name with wings behind my neck because she's my backbone and my angel

I don't I been thinking of tattoo for the longest time but I always had a million thoughts of what to get .

Answer
I am sorry for the losses that you have experienced.

You a couple of ideas that could be worked out, but need to be thought out a bit more.
First, here's a good article on how to get a tattoo without regret:
http://galadarling.com/article/how-to-get-a-great-tattoo-and-never-regret-it
As to your ideas:
The one for your dog on your wrist - you are young and will have many animal friends in your life, and your dog now is very important to you, but you will have others too that will be important to you. If you do this idea, then it will probably represent your dog now, and the future pets that you will have.
The paw print on your wrist, however, could look too dark and heavy, and you may be surprised at that because the concept is a good one. The way to check this out is to get a Sharpie marker and draw it on your wrist and wear it around for a while. Also, you may be thinking smaller than is needed to hold up well over time. The letters need to be no smaller than 1/2" tall or they will blur. You should also consider asking for a 'fine line' needle if you do writing.
Here's some examples of this idea:
http://creativefan.com/important/cf/2012/02/wrist-tattoos-for-women/paw-wrist-tattoos.jpg
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/021/6/e/paw_print_tattoo_by_oomizuao-d4n3nxz.jpg
http://www.tattooimages.us/paw-print-tattoo-a-tattoo-is-innocent-as-a-tattoo-paw-print.html
As to your idea of your mother's initial with wings, you need to realize that some people will interpret this that she has died. But I like the idea. There are many different ways to do wings, and many ways to do letters. Take your time, and don't use images for reference that are 'tattoo' pictures. Instead find beautiful wings in photos and artwork.
Another idea that would be very pretty and feminine, would be to just have one feather:
http://www.scientificillustrator.com/art/bird/feather.jpg
http://www.scientificillustrator.com/art/bird/feather-small.jpg
with a beautiful font... Here's a font generator to help work that out:
http://tattoolettering.net/
This idea would look very nice on your shoulder blade.

Take your time, test out your ideas before you make them permanent, and think outside of your idea. ( I had this great wrist idea, but didn't realize that it would look like a watch from a distance until after I got the tattoo. I then added to my original design and turned it into a wrist bracelet, and it turned out great - but after much reworking of my idea).

luck~

Green Day tattoo ideas?

Silver

Green Day has been a huge impact on my life and i want to get a tattoo to show my love for them. I have an appointment to get my tattoo in a month. I have some ideas of what i want for a tattoo. But i am looking for some other ideas as well.
1.Getting the whatsername girl with "The regrets are useless, In my mind".
2."No one ever died for my sins in hell, as far as I can tell" or "heres nothing wrong with me, this is how im supposed to be." With J.O.S
3.The heart hand grenade with some lyrics.
4.The adeline symbol
5.The little girl letting go of the heart balloon.
Those are just some ideas i don't really know yet. If you have any other ideas feel free to leave them for me. Thanks

Answer
I like your ideas a lot. Especially number 3 :)
Green Day has also been a huge impact on my life as well, but I have to wait three years to get a tattoo.

If you Google "Green Day tattoos" there are loads of ideas.
Some that I had were :
- A photostrip with the face of each band member (like Billie's tattoo of a photostrip of Adrienne).
- A good quote by one of the band members. I think a really great quote is "music to me is the air that I breathe, it's the blood that pumps through my veins, that keeps me alive."
I'm sure you know where that quote is from.
- The kerplunk flower.

I really love this idea :
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4017/4261006343_e2ee4a3fbe.jpg

This is better, in my opinion. Same words, cooler idea, this isn't a tattoo, obviously it was written, but the adeline symbol in the word "love" is awesome:
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/066/c/4/green_day_rage_and_love_skull_tattoo_by_wildcatpixel-d4s2f0v.png

Also, there are really great tattoo ideas on Green Day Authority in the photo section. It's titled fan tattoos I believe.

Well, I hope you like my ideas. Good luck and I hope everything turns out beautiful !

Have you ever seen a good tribal butterfly tattoo?

inevoielas

I want a tribal butterfly for my daughter because butterflies hold a lot of meaning like new life, change and reincarnation for example. If I had a son, I would choose a phoenix but I thought a butterfly would be more for a girl. I don't want an actual butterfly, I want it tribal just so that it symbolizes a butterfly. And I want an ankh symbol for the body (middle part). I want the wings open. I'm thinking of getting this on my chest because it is so important, and having a surface piercing put in it with a diamond for her birth stone.

The problem is, I haven't seen any pictures of a tribal butterfly that I really like (especially not for a chest piece) but the idea I have in my head is beautiful and I can't draw to show a tattoo artist. And I'm not sure how I want the ankh to look either. Any pictures or suggestions for me to look at would be helpful, and opinions. Also, have you seen any tribal art with colour in it instead of just plain black? I wouldn't mind some colour in it, but I don't know how that would work.

I don't want the butterfly to be huge. It's going to be up higher in the middle of my chest just beneath the collar bone, and later on I'll think of things to add on the side.
Yes, I want the tribal art to be a little bit more delicate or just more space in between the black lines. And I want the lines ended in points. I don't like tribal art that is really round.

Tattoo Ideas Please!?

putnam

I want to get a tattoo on my lower back. I want something that symbolizes my good side and my bad side. Maybe a pinup-style pair of girls (like good and bad) or a good and a bad old school sparrow (one on each side), but it has to look somewhat symmetrical and it must be girly, pretty, and colorful. Anyone have any ideas or designs I can peek at? Thanx!

Answer
You should get the pin-up girls, and to make them look more symmetrical have them sitting/standing back to back. This will also keep it more centered looking and keep the focus on your tattoo instead of the blank skin between them.
These pictures would look great!

Thigh tattoo ideas!? thanksss?

Madison D

Hey there!

I already have 3 tattoos, and im getting more...i want a tattoo on my upper outside thigh, but i cant think of what to get there.
All of my other tattoos have special meanings and etc, so for this tattoo im just going to do it because its "pretty" kinda thing lol
Here are my other tattoos
-2 kois on each side of my hip
-cherry blossoms on my lower back
-"my life ; my message" on my right rib

any ideas will help, i want something that will look good and not really random lol

thanks!

Answer
I think a geisha girl would look good on your thigh, if you want to go big. You can have the artist design it to fit in with the other Japanese style tattoos you have.
If you want to keep it smaller maybe a dragon that is simple in design, you can keep it feminine if you think dragons look too masculine and again, it would fit with your apparent japanese style.
Of coarse if you want something "pretty" just look around on the internet until you see something that is pretty to you and go with it.

Answer
hey! how are you? I was surfing around when I found your q and it sounds like you have much the same style as me, but you are a guy.
first off, some other places/brands you might want to look at are:
-hurley
-West 49 (they do have some nice shoes)
-blue-notes
-footlocker

Shirts-tops:
-t's are always good, no pink! unless you can find a really nice one...
-black and or white muscle tops that show off your arms, make sure they aren't too thin... separate your work out ones, dress ones, work ones ans everyday ones...
-sweaters are critical! zip up hood with cool patterns.green (with your eyes, it will look gorgeous, but pick the right shades!) blue, red, brown and black are some ideas...

bottoms:
-BOARD SHORTS! they are great with the right T and hood, and believe me, the girl(S) will be drooling all over you!!!
-jeans they must be the right type!!! DO NOT WEAR SKINNY'S! DO NOT HAVE YOUR PANTS HANGING OFF YOUR ASS DOWN TO YOUR KNEES! those are two rules guys really need to learn. some find it attractive, others find it annoying. lets just say most chicks are down with #2. the colour and wash matter, for surf, i would suggest a light wash, in blue. if you like it, maybe a few holes...not my fave but it might be yours. a wide leg, and they should be the right length, if you need to- have them hemmed. make sure they dont drag. if you like a slightly ripped bottom, take a serrated knife and GENTLY scrape accross bottom in HORIZONTAL lignes(------ not | or /).

shoes:
you say you dont like flip flops...but if you DO find a pair you like, they look good w/ the shorts and sometimes jeans... if your gay- sorry!dont get offended, but if not- make sure they arent pink or bright or...dont wear them with socks. please.
-deck shoes are always a favorite, and go great with jeans and shorts, and other things too. a white pair and a black pair are essential. make sure you dont get to gangsta on us...get good quality ones too. adidas are nice, same with dc's. if they are suede or leather, make sure you spray/coat them regularly, once the dirt gets in- it doesnt come out/off. there are products that renew colour. ex if black sued ones are turning gray- lightening at toes, there is a product that is like paint-for your shoes...i dont know it, but i have had a bud do it for me. get help if you need too.
-runners...they can make or ruin an outfit. make sure they are properly fitted, and only wear them with the right outfits. they are great for the gym, make sure they compliment your shape.

accesories.
-hats. they can make or break an outfit choose wisely. dont buy anything too flashy!you dont want to look like a gangsta wanna-be. tooks are great. wear them on your runs in the morn, or when it's cold.
- rings: it depends if you like them or not. nothing to flashy, but if you do wear rings, keep them in a safe place when you go to wash the dishes/work out. if there is a chance you are going to loose them, leave them at home.
-necklaces: OMG i love you! a surf style lover, who actualy agknowledges the necklaces and anklets. i make mine, and i am curently wearing 4. hemp style/braided is pretty cool. gives off the surffer vibe... a few wooden beads laced throughout looks good. it should hug your neck, but not choke it... a loose choker... you can make your own. buy some yarn-thread or whatever you like... and get 3 pieces. mesure your neck, how long? say 20 cm. times it by 1 and a half- 2. so...30-40 cm each in length.take the ends and male a knot.then start braiding. to add a beadstick the middle piece throught the hole, and the other two around it...then, keep braiding. when it reaches the desired length (a bit longer than your neck...) make another knot and cut. then tie it around your neck with a double knot. when it falls off, you get a wish...but if it falls of after the first little while, it doesnt count. make sure you wash it when it's on your neck.
-anklets: same goes, make them match/similar in some way... when you put on your shoes/socks, makesure you wear ankle socks and it is out of the sock.
-earings: depends where it is. the top? then rings or bars are best. a ring with one ball in the middle always looks great. as for the bottom, dont go for blinging diamonds. a small stud is always hot.
-belts. wear one when needed. make sure it goes with the outfit. nothing to bright earth shades like in camo patterns. but the belt should not be camo patterned.

work:
you work at a tatto place, but have no tattoo???good. its really up to you, but remember, they are expensive, painfull and permanent. getting it removed is very $$$! henna tattos are great for that type off thing. make sure it's well done and kept up to date. see how you like it. you say you are muscular, right? then get one around your bicep.barbed wire or something...always hot. i kinda want one...
-black is always formal, and goess with all. EXEPT NAVY BLUE, unless we are talking jeans...thats a diffrent story...
-tops: something t

How can I talk to this guy a lot older than me?

ilovsidney

So there's this guy at my gym who is so hot but he looks like he's in his late 20's early 30's and I'm 18 but I look older. I'm wicked shy especially around guys I like. He stares at me a lot and I'll see him looking at me in the mirror, I'll walk by him and I'll see him standing there staring at me but I always look away cuz I can't hold eye contact because I'm so shy. I hear him talking to a friend and he seems like such a nice guy. He must know I'm interested because i'll glance over at him and I look at the tattoos on his legs because I can't hold eye contact but he can see me looking at him. Do you think he's interested? Should i talk to him first? What should I do? Please don't say "there's no chance he's so much older" cuz I know that I just wanna meet more people and this can help me stop being so shy. Please be nice! Thanks! :)

Answer
Just talk to him like you wold anyone else. Just because we are old men doesn't mean that we speak a different language. Geesh!

We like pretty young girls! Makes us feel good when they notice us!

If you are really haveing a hard time just walk up to him and say "Wanna F)(&#?????"

Ideas for my next tattoo?

Kelly K

I am planning my next tattoo. I know that i want it to be on my ribs, and be very colorful. I also know I want to encorporate the quote "I'd like to think the best of me was still hiding up in my sleeve" into it. I was thinking maybe flowers, but I'm not sure.. Any ideas of what the actual tattoo could be/look like/pictures?

Answer
Cherry blossom designs always look good on the ribs...or possibly an ivy design so that it looks like it's growing up your side

Both have the potential to be really colourful, and I know those are both huge but it would be easy enough to cut them down or to find a smaller design if need be. You could then have the quote incorporated by placing it on one of the branches or even have it growing out of the ivy.

Hope I've been helpful, good luck with it!

help with girl ribcage tattoo?

Kendyll

What would be a good way to incorporate a flower into a word tattoo going vertically down my side (ribs)? I like the idea of a peony but I'm not dead set on it or anything. Put as many ideas as you have and pictures are awesome too :)

Answer
Personally, I think any vine flower would work well. Morning glories are a perfect example of this. And they're gorgeous. Here are a couple of photos and drawings:

Here are some more suggestions and tattoos along the lines that you're looking:

Also, incorporating ivy in with any flower could add a nice touch: http://www.zhippo.com/AllStarBodyArtHOSTED/images/gallery/11vineedit.jpg.

tattoo ideas?

justcuriou

i want to get a simple tattoo.....girl....
ideas? (no colored)

Answer
ok these are the rules of a tattoo you won't ever regret.

1. make sure it means a lot to you.
2. let the artist help draw you up something. so it's his/hers and your own design.
3. simple isn't always the best way to go.
4. make sure it's in a place you won't get tired of seeing.
5. make sure you really want that design.
6. make sure you really want a tattoo
(these aren't in order but they don't have to be because they all should be followed) :)

side story...i want a wrist tattoo but waited and got my second idea first...reason why i did that is ...the wrist is somewhere i will be seeing all the time and if i get tired of the design then it would be annoying...so what i did was put the picture that i printed on my computer monitor so i see it everyday. after a year im still not tired of it. it has so much meaning...like 10 different things...again make sure it's got meaning to it. so when i get my second tattoo i know for sure i really want it. good luck! i hope i helped :)

where do you think tattos look good on girls?
i want to get a tattoo, but i want it to be small
and not very noticable.
i'm small. i'm 5'1", auburn hair, 100 lbs.
what do you think?? i want it to have a meaning ,
i was thinking about my grandma's signature on
my wrist or something, but i don't know....
i want it to be sexy :p

Answer
when getting a tattoo consider absolutely everything.
look at japanese style tattoos, Aztec style and the old school style tattoos such as the typical sparrow and anchors etc.

you have to remember you are going to have this your whole life so your going to have to choose something you won't regret and get sick of.

I think a very sexy place to get a tattoo is the back. its typical but looks really good. and yeahh your grans signature isn't that sexy. If you want something meaningful of your nan think of something that represents her. what does she love? what reminds you of her? etc etc

I like the bulletproof idea. You're crazy? How about untamed, reckless. Saoirse is the Irish Celtic word for freedom. I like that too

Where can i find some decent tattoo designs for girls?

fangs.

I'm planning on getting a tattoo but i don't know what i wanna get it of. I've been searching on the internet for nice designs (for a small-ish tattoo) but i can't find any. Anyone know any websites?

Answer
You know as great as the web is--IT IS NOT THE ONLY PLACE TO LOOK FOR TATTOO IDEAS!

The first place to look is yourself. What do you like? What is in your house or in your room that you just love and have loved forever? Were you a cheerleader from elementry school through college? Does your Grandmother wear a family birthstone crown that you love, but will go to you Cousin because she was the first grandchild? Have you ever walked into a fine store loved the unique design of an atomizer? Opened a book and thought an illustration really could jump off the page.

It's a big world--find those things that you love, that make you special, to have inked.

Stretch Marks?

honey

Hey girls, as a lot of us sadly experience the so nasty stretch marks.... I hate them and who don't? I use to be a little bigger than I am now, and after losing the weight I ended up with long, thick stretch marks in several areas, but especially the back of my legs, all that area is full, it's nasty!!! Have anyone tried something that actually disapeared the old white marks?
Maybe a remedy, an specific lotion brand or something, I'm so embarrased, I can't wear shorts and skirts like this, help please!!!

Answer
No girls! There is a product called Dermablend Leg and Body Cover. It is available at Dillards, Macy's and drugstores everywhere. It works for covering tattoos, spider veins, scars, bruises, and yes even stretch marks. You will need to "set" the makeup with powder so it won't rub off on your clothes as easily. For these and other tips go to www.missussmartypants.com and join. she has a group that is free on yahoo and her website (listed above) gives weekly advise on all of your clothing needs

Do you think I should get tattoos to cover the stretch marks on my shoulders, or just leave it?

Alexis

I'm a 5'11 girl and got them from a growth spurt when I was under 10. It's been there for 12 years and never went away. I have a tan skin tone so it's white and noticeable. Creams don't work. It's on both my shoulders and the sides of my arms.

Should I get a tattoo on each area to cover it? I'm 21. I HAVE NOT worn tank tops or t-shirts in the summer for over 10 years because of this. I always wear a sweater in the summer and people wonder why I cover up.
They aren't deep so they wouldn't affect the apperance of the tattoo. It looks bad tho. I've already tried the vitamin E in liquid, cream and capsule form. It doesn't work. :/ nothing works. Tanning won't work because I've tried it too.

I'm really leaning towards tattoos though...sorry guys. I've never been able to wear dresses either and it really bothers me. I want to feel good.

Answer
I wouldn't unless you REALLY want the tattoos and it's something you LOVE. I'm sure they're really not as bad as you make them out to be. In fact I guarantee your the only one it would bother if you decided to start wearing tank tops.

Looking for a tattoo design?

Nicole

originally i wanted a tattoo of 3 stars on my right hip that symbolize my 3 goals in life
stars are beautiful, symbolic, and very simple, yet so complex and they have always appealed to me
and as i completed each goal i would get it colored in or add a design to each star
and once all were complete i wanted to add a 4th star to represent success

but it seems like everyone and their dog has stars on their hips
and i know that once people saw mine they would automatically judge them and tell me that they didn't have deeper meaning to me and i would have to go through my whole story about 50 times a day

i want something that is not so over used
but is still significant to me
does anyone have any ideas of what i could do kind of like my star idea
or something representing strength (emotional) or love

i dislike tribal tattoos
and i am really interested in white ink tattoos
but i might not go with a white ink for my first tat
since they are still relatively new i want to wait on that
i absolutely love lindsay lohans white ink tatto with breathe on her wrist
http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/04_03/lohan030507_468x274.jpg
i love what it stands for and have seriously considered getting that exact tatoo, but like i said i want mine to be original

Answer
White tattoos aren't new. They just aren't widely done because white tends to turn yellow over time. The shop I get tattooed at won't even do them because they never STAY white so they cannot guarantee they'll stay decent looking.

Get the stars if you want them. Don't worry about people judging you. Tattoos are a very personal thing. If you really want stars and get something else because you are so worried about other people's assumptions you will end up regretting whatever you DO get and will wish you had gotten what you wanted to begin with.

People have been getting star tattoos forever. They are pretty trendy right now but even after they taper off there will still be a ton of people getting them. I have wings tattooed on my back and a few months later it seemed like every time I turned around I was seeing another girl with wing tattoos. It didn't make me love mine any less.

Good luck!

Is "tattoo concept artist" a real job?

Rebecca Lo

Okay, so I read a lot of fanfiction (don't judge too harshly, I read a lot of books too) and I was reading one where a man offered a girl a job as a tattoo designer. She drew out different designs and then he would do the actual tattooing. That got me wondering if that was something that could be pursued as an actual career (I mean how cool would it be to have someone love something you designed so much that they get it permanetly copied onto their skin?). Also, if it is something that could be pursued as a career, is there any extra information you can give me (like tips, links, helpful college courses, or anything smilar)?

Answer
Well, currently, I'm a tattoo designer. People contact me, I draw up a design and then they pay me for it. The difference is that I work for myself, not a tattoo artist. Eventually I plan to be a tattoo artist, but it's all baby steps.
The job your referring to does exist, in fact my last tattooist did commissions for an older tattoo artist when he was younger (before his apprenticeship).
Have you thought about becoming an actual tattoo artist? Your profits will be a lot better than just a tattoo designer. End of the day, most tattoo artists can draw themselves (ones that can't shouldn't be in the industry) and are unlikely to pay a middle-man to do the design when they can do it themselves.
The career you're thinking of would be difficult to find, and would take a hell of a lot of luck.
My advice for you is start charging for tattoo commissions now, for your self rather than for a tattooist. Then see where it takes you. If you want to do this you'll have to work hard to get yourself noticed in an already highly-saturated industry. You'll have to sell yourself. Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest and Deviantart to get your work noticed. Try and get featured on tattoo blogs and websites, and make sure all internet traffic goes back to you. It's hard. You'll have to shift through all the crappy designs to get that occasional amazing client who asks you to do something you actually enjoy. But it's the right way to go about it. When you've built up a portfolio take it around tattoo studios (or email them) and see if they're up for taking on a tattoo designer. Or at least try and sell them some flash. Ask them some advice on what direction you should head. You might even end up grabbing your self an apprenticeship, if that's what you decide you want to do.
In regards to college courses, the tattoo industry is a beaut, because it doesn't rely too much on qualifications. Essentially the only things you need are skill, patience and a hard working ethic. Obviously, if you can study art, this will help vastly. But a degree is not necessary.
There are also websites that pay you for collections of flash, which are downloadable for users.

Which tattoo do you like the most?

Taylor Has

Well ever since i was about 8 or 9 i have wanted to get a tattoo. Now i am only 15 and my parents don't me getting a tattoo and i completely respect that. I'm not going to be stupid and run off and get it done in a shady shop without permission. It's something i really want so i can wait. But anyway, i was wondering what you guys think of these tattoos/designs. I've always wanted a black rose but recently i came across a few designs that i fell in love with. Please keep in mind that i want the tattoo on either my mid-to-lower back(No not a tramp stamp, think about where a girl who has decent length hair, about where the hair would fall on her back.), on my side between the the ribs and hipbone, or on my hip. I choose these places because the career i want to have requires you to be professional and i still want to be able to show them if i choose but still easily cover them up. So what tattoo do you like best and which placement do you think would be best for it? Sorry for all my babbling haha, here are the pictures:

NOTE: Please ignore the placement and size of the tattoo in the picture. And no "Don't do that to your body!" I have wanted this for a long time and will get one. :]
Also! If you know of any cool piercings feel free to share them. But nothing too extreme, ie. A corset piercing, i think they a pretty but they look very painful and never in my life would i think about getting one haha. And i put the question in this category instead of "Tattoos" because i want to get a wide range of views

Answer
I think you should design one yourself. If I'd gotten a tattoo done for a symbolic, sentimental reason I wouldn't want some young girl copying it because she thought it was "cool".
Get one which has a meaning and that you won't regret having when you're older.

I then added to my original design and turned it into a wrist bracelet, and it turned out great - but after much reworking of my idea).

luck~

First tattoo ideas for girls?

Lara

I've always wanted a small, discreet tattoo that has a great meaning behind it. I've been thinking of a rabbit tattoo, because my family calls me a rabbit, its our personal nickname for me. I'm 18 so I don't want to rush into it, I'll probably consider it for a couple more years. What are some cool, edgy tattoos? I want some really edgy ideas with a touch of feminity... and something I can easily hide. Can people suggest me good placements to get a tattoo, or cool designs or symbols with meaning behind it? I don't want fairies, stars, hearts, butterflies.. I want some original ideas that I can get inspiration from. Thanks! Oh and no disney or cartoon characters please.
I don't see anything wrong with tattoos with meanings behind them. Some people want to express something of symbolic importance that way and I personally think it's nice. So no rushed judgements or hasty words yeah? Thats fine if you don't like them, but if you don't like my question, why answer?

Answer
Ummmm...yeah.

First, you might consider that what you find cool or edgy now (at 18, in the year 2012) may be pretty foolish/silly/etc. just a few years down the road...let alone when you are 28, 38, 48, 58...etc.
Edgy or cool...these categories tend to be moving targets...or else it wouldn't BE "edgy", right? ;-)

The other thing you need to consider is not only placement in terms of "can I hide it"--you seem to be thinking enough about how you present yourself in the professional world, where tattoos tend to not be acceptable in terms of arm tattoos like Craig Ferguson, etc., so you are thinking well--but also in terms of HOW IS THE SKIN IN THIS AREA GOING TO CHANGE...? (Think: with age, with pregnancy, etc.)

A lot of "gosh, what a cute little tattoo"-type things along a bikini line might have turned into "OMG WTF _IS_ THAT?!" as someone has the skin stretch during pregnancy.

And your thinking about it is good--and while you are, please look at some old women with tattoos and realize that a clear, vibrant tattoo you get at 18, or 20/21 is probably going to fade, blur, etc. So simple and recognizable even with some blurring/fading might be smarter than some intricate thing which requires clarity and brightness in order to not look like a birth mark or a melanoma.

;-)
