Tattoo design...placing?

Q. I want to get a tattoo of a willow tree (not overly big) with "under the willow tree" in cursive underneath it but i dont know where to place it. I would have liked to put it on the back of my neck but there is already a tattoo there, and i have one on my foot. I dont want a huge one so on my back wont work...where would it look nice on a female??

dont get it on your arm, the only arm tattoos on girls that look good are actual full sleeves in my opinion, why not get it on your ribs or a hip or an ankle (inside or out). depends on how big you want it as well.

My best girl friend is just starting to tattoo, and she needs people to do her first couple on, so I volunteered for one. She designed the almost full-back tattoo that I'm eventually gonna have done, so I thought it'd be awesome if she got good enough to put her design on me.

Anyway, for this first one, I was thinking of getting something simple like kitty paw prints. I'm looking for a spot that won't hurt too bad, and also isn't in a very noticeable place. Don't want it on my back cuz it wouldn't fit right with the other design.

Was considering the back of my neck since I almost always have my hair down, but how bad does that hurt?

Any other suggestions or tips would be great. Thanks!

It hurts most to have tattoo on places closest the the bones like ankles, and back of your neck, yes it is gonna hurt. It hurts littlest at places where there are flesh and fat, like on your hips.

Personally I think the best place to have tattoo for a girl is on the side of your tummy but lower, a bit close to the private area. Probably above the bikini string so it won't be partly covered when you're in a swimsuit. It's an area where it doesn't hurt much, doesn't show much unless you're naked or in a swimsuit, and still sexy.

need help on a "country girl" Tattoo design!!!?

Okay, so I want a tattoo that shows my âred neckâ side. I donât want it to have the rebel flag in it or a bass or a deer like all other red neck tattoos. And it of course needs to be a tattoo that would look good on a girl. Im not opposed to camo but I donât want to much of it. And I donât want it to just flat out say âcountry girlâ or âred neck girlâ, just something that represents it with out looking trashy or tacky. I am a tattoo artist so I can draw it up myself, I just need ideas! Please help!!!

If you're a tattoo artist, I'm sure you can appreciate a good pin-up girl! What about a "country" pin-up girl that you can draw to resemble your version of Annie Oakley mixed with some of your own features and maybe holding a banjo or a pistol with a train of smoke coming out of it or the pin-up surrounded by flowers that grow in the country... maybe tree blossoms of some sort. Out here we get beautiful cherry and apple blossoms, and dogwood tree blossoms.

hmmm. it also depends on where you're planning to get it done and how big you want it. but I like the idea of a country inspired pin up with a few things incorporated that mean something to you... like it could be wearing a sheriffs badge and your moms initials could be on it, things like that.

As with all custom tattoos, they should never be copied .. ever.
Yes be inspired by it, and then come up with your own design, that you and your tattoo artist work up together. They you will have a custom tattoo all of your own that you will not want anyone else copying.

If he size is and issue shorten it down and say go from the left side of the neck to just under the left arm pit or something

It doesn't matter who else like or doesn't like it its something you wear for the rest of your life!

And to the person who said it's stupid to get a tattoo with no meaning most people who are really into tattoos tend not to think every tattoo has to have a meaning and that's what believe too, gets only problem I have is when people get a tattoo with strong meaning and the person who gets it doesn't subscribe to what the tattoo means eg getting a cross tattoo and not being religious or getting music notes and not having music as a strong part of their lives (they don't play in a band or don't have a music related job)

Hi im getting a tattoo soon but i want it somewhere that people will see it but not on the ankle or the wrist because the ankle i usually wear long pants and the wrist i find its more for names and all .. But i find getting a tattoo on the arm close to the shoulder is more for guys because i usually see guys with tattoos there and if its a girl its usually her whole arm other than just one tattoo.

Hey, i'm 19 years old and planning on getting my first tattoo ever. I was thinking of getting the names of my sister and my yet to be born sibling (when we name it) tattooed on my wrist in ambigram form what do you think? Good idea or no. As my weight has has gone up and down, my tattoos haven't warped or been distorted. It is a very good place for someone like yourself.

I think long quotes make for ugly tattoos, regardless of what the content is. A word or two can be beautiful but once it becomes more than a couple of words it turns into just a block of text all stacked up on your body and it ends up looking ugly as sin. Proper script tattoos should be on the large side to make sure it remains legible as well and a lot of people are getting quote tattoos these days that will turn unreadable pretty quickly since the fonts they choose are so small.

Foot/ankle tattoos hurt a lot since there is no fat tissue & little meat. It's pretty much bone. But it will look awesome once it's over. I've always wanted a rosary around my ankle.

It looks retarded. Sorry, but it looks so tacky, especially if its like a flower or a butterfly. I saw this one girl with a damn unicorn tatted on her ankle. My recommendation? Get no tattoos on your lower body, that area (Belly Button & Downwards) is "sacred" to us men. The best place is honestly the back or inside of arm, not a tramp stamp, but something cool on the back, nowhere else.

im not too big on feet tattoos or ankle tattoos unless they are big full leg pieces. everyone has their own opinion on tattoos. i absolutely love big tattoos and have a quarter sleeve on both of my forearms. you obviously don't care for most tattoos.

You know who are good at designing tattoos? Tattoo artists. I highly doubt anyone here will know what will work as a tattoo and what won't. Besides the tattoo artists, who probably won't draw your stuff for free. Take your two pictures to a tattoo artist and have them sketch something up. Hearts and banners are super simple, it shouldn't be too challenging for them...

Getting a small tattoo on my lower right hip?

I'm a petite, 16 year old girl. I've been known to be very pure and innocent, so no one would expect me to get one, but I just became interested in getting a tattoo on my lower right hip.
The design would be a black (filled in, not an outline) of my Cancer zodiac. I would want it to be the size of a half dollar/quarter.It would also be concealed by my pants/underwear/bikini bottom unless I tugged at it or slightly pulled it down.
I'll get it once I'm 18 probably, so now I might just test with temporary tattoos to make sure I still like it.

My questions are, does this sound like an OK tattoo (first and only)? And would it be considered "offensive" to tattoo-haters? If it was this low, would it stretch out if I became pregnant as an adult? Does getting one this small lower my chances of getting an infection?

Just make sure you are getting a tattoo for the right reasons. The fact that you started with "I've been known to be very pure and innocent, so no one would expect me to get one" suggests to me you are doing it as some faux rebel thing. In which case you'll regret it.

As far as the tattoo goes, if it's what you want then it's fine. So long as you look after the tattoo and follow the tattooists directions through the healing stage, you should be fine. There's no more or less risk just based on size.

Words can make very powerful tattoos too. Some can be cheesy though, IMO. Sanskrit is a beautifully written language.


I think it's great to look for suggestions, but make sure that you get exactly what you want. <3 If you see a picture you like, you can take it in an the artist can make a similar yet more unique version of it.

Depends on size but with no colour I would say 100 to 120 with the quote. Thw artist needs to include the cost of the needle and equiptment and time.
My last was palm sized with tiny bit of colour and cost 130. It depends also on where you go. I have usedd the same guy for 6yrs and he definitely gives me a break on price now.

I applaud your parents for making such a responsible decision. Really a quote, a tiny quote? That just goes to show how ready you aren't. Doing lettering tattoos small is a horrible idea, they age poorly and look like scribbles in a short time, for you, by the time you're 17. I am really happy your parents don't allow it, plus, as someone else already said, you will be very hard-pressed to find an artist to do it, even if it is legal where you live.

Newspaper tattoo design?

I am planning on getting a newspaper tattoo and was wondering what people think and do girls like guys covered in tattoos.
The tattoo is going to be in the style of a broadsheet newspaper and cover the entire front of my torso. The headlines and text will relate to events in my life. In future I may also take it round to to cover my back. I have already started the project by having a newspaper title "The Herald" tattooed full size across my chest.

tattoo cover ups?

Tattoos are easy to cover up. Sounds like your wrist wouldn't be hard at all to cover up with something else. I would first reccommend going to an artist in your area that specializes in tattoo cover ups and show them what you got. They then can tell you what colors would best cover up what you have. Knowing that will help you decide on what kind of design you want to use to cover up your hearts. If the colors are decently fadded it will make covering up the tattoo easier. You can do almost anything imaginable so it's truly up to you and then finding a great artist :)

I really like tattoos. I am not attracted to women like Kat Von D but I don't think they look bad either, it's just that their look is not my thing. As long as the tattoos are well done I would really like to talk to a girl about her tattoos. If the tattoo is a butterfly or a chinese symbol may be not but an interesting design is something I would like to see on girls.

I tend to be drawn more towards girls without tatts, though a subtle bit of ink on her shoulder or ankle can be a bit enticing. Your design, however, does sound very intriguing, and depending on the artist, could look very awesome. If you can draw up a sketch, or know an artist that can do it right, go for it!

That being said, every guy has their preference, so it really depends on the company you keep, as well as the type of guy you're looking to attract. And even then, it varies depending on the person. The fact that you're a gamer, however, would probably add to the appeal. ;)

It's your skin, and if you want to use it to express yourself, by all means, do so. If a guy were to like you, I think he'd be able to appreciate that.

It is a heart with a trinity inside of it! It is really awesome! And it can signify both you and your husband and your baby girl! To make it really special have her choose the color or colors for it!

Tattoo over acne scars?

I have really bad acne and chicken pock scars all over my chest that have been there since i was a little girl and through my teen years. Now I'm look to some how fix it or a least make it look better. And since i have wanted a tattoo for the longest time, I deiced that maybe getting my tattoo there would help. But as I'm looking into it I'm begining to worry that my scars will effect my tattoo badly.

So instead of have a nice tattoo, I'll have a picture on my chest with a spotted back round. And the meaning full design I want isn't one that will cover the the scaring completely. Covering up isn't my main reason for getting it but I'm just wondering if it will effect the tat as much as I fear it will and if there is anything i can do about it like getting some kind of skin treatment before hand to clear it up?

If you havent gone to a doctor about this, Its baby acne that you are never going to grow out of. Im still young ( 13 ) and I have the same problem on my arms. If you go to a tattoo parlor and maybe ask the guy who does it, he could probably tell you whether or not the bumps will effect the tattoo... The bumps are called exama also. It caused from dry seasons and allergic reactions to nature. You could try a skin treatment but nothing special because nothing can make it go away fully. Try putting lotion on and go to a store and buy a sponge that exfoliates you're body, like a sandpapery sponge and rub it on youre chest everytime you take shower/bath. Hope this helps! :D

Take a break baby. I have 2 tats. They are meaningful to me and subtle. But i do like body piercing.

You are behaving in an addictive fashion having so many so fast. You might be smart to stop for awhile. Tattoos are expensive and you have a baby. Consider that aspect of it. at your age you might think these are grand, but you truly have NO IDEA what your mindset will be in 10 or 20 years. I know a girl 26 and she has 24 tats she got when she was 16, 17. There is nothing she can wear where you cannot see them because her taste was quite different from what it was back then.

My daughter at that time got 3 tats. Her thing is piercing. Mine is too.

I will tell you how it is addictive. It hurts, of course. With both practices they are sticking needles into your flesh.

I am a girly girl and want that to reflect in my tattoo. ok. so i dont tattoo myself but i do repeat one thing on myself with sharpie everyday after i shower. a heart right above my left pinky toe. its cute, girly, and easy to hide if you ever have too. also a daisy on your second toe of your left foot. [if you were a girl scout you should get this because its a song] i would get a simple star maybe shooting or a heat smiley or peace sign. or cross.
or just dont tattoo yourself at all. i mean you do already have two.

Hi there!

If you're a girl I'd say the infinity sign! I'd probably get that when I'm older, maybe one with interlocking words :) It is painful getting a tattoo, it's unavoidable. But if your tattoo is large, you'll probably have to be able to tolerate the pain for a longer period of time. The pain is generally the same, just a matter of how long it lasts.
I think I could tolerate the pain from a small tattoo on my wrist ;)

So im 18 and a girl. And i REALLY want the infinity love tattoo on my right wrist and the infinity faith on my left wrist. Wouls that look dumb? I dont have any other piercings or tattoos or body. modifications. Would i end up regretting it? Do you not like tattoos on girls? the problem is is that im really determined to be a criminal lawyer or judge when im older. Im a straight A student amd im planning on going to a great university such as yale or stanford. Im really determined to be sucessful. I just dont want the tattoos to stop my carreer and sucess? Please understand that highly visible modifications like facial piercings, facial and neck and wrist/hand/forearm tattoos can affect your marketability when it comes to finding a job. Unfortunately, until the older generation gives up the reins of power, tattoos and piercings are still going to be looked at with a certain stigma. Not as much as ten years ago, but in surveys of HR personnel, the majority have said they would pass up a person with visible tattoos and piercings in favor of someone with a more conservative appearance.

My mods are all easily hidden. Wrist tattoos can be hidden with large bracelets, bandages, and sometimes concealer/foundation. If you are going into any type of legal profession, you should not get any highly visible mods, as these can greatly reduce your chances of getting hired on as a lawyer, police officer, and less likely to be appointed/elected judge.

If you're going to get something permanent, you should get it in a place that is easily hidden, at least until you are established in your career. Personally, I feel that a person's modifications have no impact on their ability to perform a job for which they have been trained. I have 2 tats with 4 more planned out and 11 body piercings. I currently provide force protection for the military and state officials. I'm sure I would not have this position were my mods visible. I also work in a tattoo and piercing studio, where I can show off my facial piercings without repercussion.
