I want to get a mural tattooed on my back that will represent the change from childhood to motherhood. I know that i want it to be gray scaled and that I don't want the usual faeries, butterfly's, frogs or flowers but im not very creative and the artist needs a general idea that i want to display any ideas?

Take images from your childhood, a picture of you on a swing or slide, in diapers, being held, sleeping, different ages, toys and books, and the things that you were interested in at different stages, objects to represent time periods and ages, silhouettes, etc. Look in scrapebooks, and bring any and all pictures, and written ideas to your artist and see what him/her comes up with.

It depends on the girl, the tattoo, your on preferences, and how it's worn. It really depends on the individual. I personally have a problem with poorly-done tattoos, and tattoos that everyone has-- like nautical stars, hearts, and cherries. Mine is being created by me, so it's unique :) Go for it-- just make sure you're gonna love that ink for a long time!

The very fist time it happen a huge grey scaly creepy monster type was holding me tight when i was in my bed it was talking to me, but i had no idea what language it was i couldn't yell or anything and its strange i don't how or why but i was looking at myself getting grabbed. i see from both views and still couldn't see a face. second time i saw what we call death or the grim reaper just staring at me. third laughter of children creepy vibe. other times i hear conversation never understand them. i have seen a little girl came up to me with black eyes touched my hand and kissed it and told me it will end soon. another weird time something was walking around my room saying things like marriage and owning me for itself i couldn't make out an image almost like it didn't want me to see it but it was human like at all. I have seen hands coming from the ground trying to reach for me. another time it feels like something is being sexual with me like touching my stomach reaching up to my breast and not to long ago it feels like i was actually having sex, but couldn't see anything nor could i move or speak. Right... First of all, make 100% sure it's the right translation. I'm 16, I had my tattoo done 2 months ago. It's a quote in Latin. I found the quote online, and went to 3 different Latin teachers- all confirmed that the quote was spelled incorrectly.

You HAVE TO make sure it actually means what you think it does, because Chinese is complicated. Best way to check is either to find Chinese teachers somewhere in the area and consult them (make sure they are native Chinese though, because the 'baby girl' you want is more of a slang term, so a native person will know better, or register a proper Chinese language learning forum and ask there.)

Secondly people: STFU about what she's getting. It's her business. I also have a cliche tattoo and it has a deep meaning for me so yeah, I think you're just jealous because she's getting one and the rest of you can shove that dream up your asses for the next couple of years.

For a city that's all about the "live and let live" philosophy, I find it incredibly hypocritical that some want to outlaw circumcising children... Even for religious reasons.

They actually have the nerve to make the claim that it's genital mutilation? So shouldn't sex change operations also be outlawed? Isn't that a bit extreme to consider it mutilation?

Why's it hypocritical? What's hypocritical is that it's illegal to so much as pinprick the genitals of a baby girl (as it should be), but it's legal to remove over half of the penile skin of a baby boy. Now that's hypocritical.

It's about time that baby boys are granted the same basic human rights as baby girls.

Yeah, live and let live. Do whatever you want with your own body - circumcision, sex changes, tattooes, whatever. But if it's someone *else's* body...what give you the right to cosmetically alter it without their consent?

Note that sex transitions are something people choose for themselves. If people started doing sex changes on babies, now of course that's barbaric and should be illegal.

I'm considered a bit 'emo' in a way. I have the piercings and hair and clothes and music, but i most definately do not worship the devil, and i don't know a single person who does! these are just rumours and there is no real truth in them!

And as for the drinking and smoking and drugs etc, i can tell you now i do none of them. Obviously i'll have a drink if i go out, but doesn't everyone? Its nothing extreme and probably just once every few months.

Goth and emo is a style, not a lifestyle. Its music taste, clothes and hair styles, not what you do with your time. There are plenty of religious goth and emo girls out there.

Im So worried about giving birth ?

I'm 22 and will be having my first baby girl soon(due on the 12th of this month) at first it didn't bother me it was like yeah it's going to be a bit of pain for a while and it's over.

Now I'm scared to death my cousin who has had 2 baby's was talking to me about it(she's also 22) and she showed me a picture on google off a baby crowning and I thought that looks way too painful and decided I didn't want to go through with this but I sort of have no choice and I do want this baby.
I'm so worried about having it what if I cant get her out?or she dies? The only people Im having with me is my fiancé and my nana.
And my fiancé is more scared about it than me.
Any advice?please I don't know what to do?its my first.

Honestly it is not that bad. Your body is designed to give birth and it will come naturally. Labor is not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I also do not think it is the most painful either. By the time your baby starts crowning you will have progressed enough in your labor that you will WANT her out and you will do whatever necessary to push her out. It is sort of like getting a tattoo- it only hurts when they are actually doing it and when they stop the needle the pain stops, same thing with the baby. Once she is out the pain pretty much all goes away. Until a couple days later and you will be a little sore but you will look into her eyes and not even care. I personally loved being in labor. I looked at is as an accomplishment.

As for worrying something will happen- that is totally normal. My son was born blue and it was very scary but now he is the most handsome, energetic, loving little boy in the world. Trust your body, trust your doctor, and trust what is meant to be will be. Good luck to you!!

As of last year, I have noticed a dramatic upswing in the amount of women and older girls shaving part of their head, usually in the back of the neck (nape) or higher (undercut) or one or both sides of the head (sidecut). While I have known about such practices for years, having studied various human subcultures like got, punk, and fetish - the subcultures most associated with this hairstyle among other alternative fashions, it strikes me as very odd that an ever increasing number of women are willing to cut there hair in such a manner. This is of course considering that only 5-10 years ago, hair clippers were generally seen as unfeminine and, in some cases, an object of fear and loathing amongst the general female populace, being somewhat mainstream in only alternative type communities.

Like the tramp stamp, the undercut/sidecut can be easily hidden (by draped over hair), can be decorated with shaved patterns and dyes for increased mode of self expression, was originally a part of alternative subcultures commonly associated with the lowest common denominator in society, is viewable generally from the back (the undercut generally occupies the neck region and is visible when one's hair is tied back while the tramp stamp occurs on the lower back or upper buttocks region and is visible when the midriff is bare), and is perhaps used to signal certain sexual proclivities that I would prefer not mention despite such assumptions being no longer applicable due to the burgeoning mainstream popularity of such fashion.

As for hypothetical answers that could satisfy this question, it seems as if though the rise of the undercut/sidecut comes with the general acceptance of tattoo, fetish, goth, punk and alternative culture that has only become more rampant with increased use and vulgarization of the internet amongst an ever expanding pool of people. The seemingly decade long fascination with fetishes, primarily those found on the internet, also seems to fuel this trend as it exposes more people to this concept/idea in fashion; it was not very long ago that you could only find evidence of such fashion in the few and far between communities devoted to hair fetishism online, namely small amateur sites, Usenet, Yahoo! Groups, etc., many of whom were only populated by aging perverts, creeps, and at-risk youth. Is the internet to blame for introducing such low culture to our society? It also seems as if though this new generation of youth is also more delinquent an at risk than ever, explaining the appeal in such things as this undercut/sidecut fashion, a decline in scholarly performance, and increase in risky behaviors such as sex, criminal activity, and drug use, an increase in sexual fetishism amongst the youth and lesbianism amongst teenage and young-adult women, though alternatively, such acting out may also be the result of the middle class teetering on the brink of poverty in the midst of this 4 year worldwide recession, perhaps providing new appeal for such low, post-apocalypse-like culture.

What is the deal with this once seemingly delinquent male fashion becoming a popular mainstay of modern female youth culture? Is the sidecut/undercut the new tramp stamp? Does it signal such behaviors as sexual promiscuity, going through the back-door, or lesbianism as is often attributed to it as was commonly attributed to the tramp stamp? Or is it nothing more than a fad that will be mostly forgotten in a few years time when people become sick of it and it becomes cliche, not unlike the tramp stamp? What do you, citizens of Yahoo! Answers, think of this issue? Are you attracted to or repulsed by women/girls with partially clippered or shaved heads that have patterns shaved into them, are dyed, or are covered in tattoos? There is no issue with the sidecut/undercut. People get these hairstyles merely for fun or style. It's personal style. There will always be people who don't like it and people who do. Some just want to stand out, feel different from the mainstream crowd, or even just seek attention.

It does not signal lesbianism or sexual promiscuity although some claim it's a "lesbian haircut" which it's not. Hair is unable to be sentient. That being said hair is incapable of becoming attracted to another species so it does not have a sexuality therefore it not being a "lesbian haircut".

But all jokes aside, the undercut/sidecut is just a fad and may probably pass in a few years. If not, let them be. As for tattoos and shaved in designs, some people use them for self expression. Personally there is no issue here to me.

Your question was kinda long to me so I apologize if I haven't covered all areas.

Anyway, a lot of people criticize this generation. Don't forget those who raised it though.

i love a girl with a tat but it has to be small, cute, and not noticeable in plain sight. keep it in a spot that cant be seen by everyone everyday. when your 70 it will look nasty so better safe than sorry.

But my advice to you is this...

Where are you comfortable ... getting your tattoo .. that you know you will be happy with its placement when you get older?

Example: I was going to get wings on my back , and i was going to design them myself, and then I said " Wait... when the day comes when I get married, I want to wear a backless dress, I don't want people seeing that on my wedding day"... so I didn't get them but I got stars on my hips instead. The good thing about the hips (right above my pant line a star on each side) is that as I get older , I will dress my age and the tattoo's will be covered up.

If you want something showy (in a place where it cannot be hidden) than that's your choice, but seriously think about it...

Thigh? Not for me personally i want to be able to wear shorts
Calf? Not for me... more of a place where guys get them ( in my own opinion)

Which sides should I get my tragus and triple forward helix?

I am going to get my tragus pierced this weekend and I know I want to eventually get the triple forward helix too and I can't decide which sides they should go on. On my right side I have 3 regular piercings and my cartilage. On my left I just have 3 regular piercings and I plan on getting a small tattoo behind my left ear. Which piercing should go where?? Also I plan on getting all studs not rings if that affects the answer

I vote for tragus on your right ear, and triple forward helix on your left. Those are really pretty combinations, by the way :)

And just so you know, the girl who said that getting a piercing on whatever side means you're a lesbian... that's ridiculously false. The placement of a piercing has absolutely no relation to your sexuality; people just make that up because they lack something better to do with their lives, and it pisses me off just a tad when I see people saying that :)

I've been waiting years to get my tattoo for different reason. Originally I wanted it behind my ear, but every tattoo shop i've talked to has said it's going to be hard and they even might have to shave a bit of my hair off to get it to fit. So I began to think I might like it on the back of my neck? Do you think that's trashy-looking? It's just going to be black and white, very small. About an inch.
I forgot to mention that it is going to be a small hummingbird. Hummingbirds mean a lot to me.. They have been a symbol throughout my life with my music and even family members i'm close with.

Why would you get the twilight one and not one that you pick on your own? There are plenty of native american symbol designs that you could pick, and I think that a tattoo should mean something to you, as it will always be there.

If you choose the twilight tattoo then you will be forever giggled at about by pre-teen and teenage girls.

It's a cute idea, if you plan on the tattoo being an actual imprint of your G.F.'s lips. However, I do agree that it is a common tattoo, especially when done on the neck area; I'd suggest getting it done over your heart as well.

Okay, so this is going to be long but I appreciate anyone and everyone who helps me out with this so much. I've been through a lot of heartache and grieving recently as well as in the past unfortunately and for some reason I'm really drawn to dream catchers. As a little kid my mom used to always take me to this native american store to look at the colorful rocks and large dream catchers and I was always so fascinated by the culture. The people, both recently and in the past, that I've lost, two especially, were some of the closest people I've ever been to and the ones to make me feel optimistic about the future. They always told me they'd be there whenever I felt alone or lost hope in everyone and everything and they pulled me through a lot of bad memories and times. They reminded me that things will get better because they'd always be there in my heart to comfort me and hold me close and that reminded me, once again, of the tightly knit dream catchers I used to visit and how they take in the bad (dreams) and let the good pass through. To me, dream catchers also represent the bad times and memories that will never be forgotten but the good as well in life that passes us by so freely that we need to appreciate. As a child I remember someone telling me, though I don't know who, that no dream is too big to concur and no one can ever stop me from fulfilling it and so I was thinking of incorporating words but I'm not sure if I want to or what I'd choose them to be. For instance, on a different note, I saw a tattoo of a dream catcher idea on a girl that really hit home to me that said "God broke our hearts to prove to us, He always takes the best" and I absolutely love that quote, but i'm not sure yet if I want to use that because that was her idea, not mine, yanno? Additionally I'm not sure if I want one large web and three underneath it, one larger than the one underneath it, or one alone and if I want it to be webbed or done in a different design inside. I don't know if I want the feathers to be attached by means of leather looking threads or beads or a rosary (maybe even just one of the threads as beaded or a rosary and the rest of them as simple threads, I don't know) but I DO know that I love the idea of one of the feathers disintegrating into birds flying because of the incredible sense of freedom to live one's life and choose one's own path I feel. I wanted to get a dream catcher tattooed about medium size on my rib-cage on one of my sides but I want to make it personalized and not like all the other tattoos out there. This is not going to be a spur of the moment tattoo and that is why I have tried so hard to find a way to personalize it. Unfortunately I have too many ideas and components in my head to create an idea and I haven't had time to talk to a tattoo designer personally yet. I've come here though in hopes that someone may help me accomplish this goal so I am free to all of your ideas. Once again, thank you everyone who reads this and takes their time to help me out. If you do not like tattoos or respect my reasons for wanting this that is completely fine, just please keep your commentary to yourself because some people, like me, really believe in expression of oneself and experiences through significant body art. On one hand, I want to say that for once, someone has posted a question regarding dream catcher tattoos that doesn't make me want to pull my hair out and vomit simultaneously.......

On the other hand, I think you should be told about the repercussions from the Native community, of getting such a tattoo.

Let's start off by saying that a dream catcher is an infant's cradle decoration. The same thing as a mobile over a crib. Something with different textures, that a child can watch sway in the breeze, and reach out for. They are also given to toddlers, whom are told the whole bad dreams get caught in the webbing/burnt up in the sun/good dreams pass through. The equivalent of a nite lite for a child. They are only relevant to one Native culture, out of the hundreds.....Anishinaabe. Commonly known as Ojibwe/Chippewa. They are not a universal pan-Indian symbol.

Now, if you get this tattoo....expect any Native that sees it, to treat you with distance, disdain, to be outright laughed at for getting a child's cradle decoration as a tattoo. WE have dealt with about all the cultural appropriation we can stand....and dream catcher tattoos on REAL Natives, are few and far between. The only people who do get them, are nons.....or those who claim to have a Cherokee great-great-Granny. It outs them as being non-Native and knowing nothing about Native cultures, right away.

Also....that quote you included about a god. We don't have any gods at all. So it is not only insulting to include the Christian god into an Anishinaabe symbol...but also quite ridiculous. Its like getting a tattoo of Buddha, then including that quote.

I get that you want something that represents the people you've lost....and somehow tying that into a safe, childhood memory from which you draw comfort. That part is nice...and is what tattoos should be about. BUT....you need to understand what getting a dream catcher means to the people you would be taking it from, that you are not a part of.
