Pepsquad Girls Sweet 16 Cheerleader Theme Party

Cheer your favorite Sweet 16 young lady to victory with a Pepsquad Girls Sweet 16 Cheerleader Theme Party. Cheerleaders connote charm, grace, high-energy and fun â and always get the guy. Girls and guys alike will love the energy and sportslike theme.

Invitations:

Select a favorite sport and your team colors. With a large 16 in the middle of the invitation, invite friends and family to get into the spirit of your celebration. You may wish to ask everyone to dress in team colors. Add sparkly confetti in your team colors to the invitation for extra panache.

Decorations:

Let your pride and spirit show! Light up the room in Technicolor. Decorate everywher with white twinkly lights and balloons in your team colors! To welcome guests, add a photo of Ms. Sweet 16 herself to a custom-created Party411 life-sized cheerleader cut out. You can even add a speech bubble announcing the occasion. Using a Message Writer, send various light announcements throughout the evening. It's awesome and programmable with your own message. Guests can have fun with this too.
Tables:

Choose floor length table cloth in a solid color with a complementary color for square table toppers. If you're not using china, find paper products and plastic ware in your team colors. Set glassware on electronic light coasters and use light-up whistles as napkin rings for the WOW factor. Place several posable Pepsquad Girls on each table, holding imprinted stadium cups in your team colors, filled with nuts, candy, funtoos, etc. Custom-created candy wrappers with yummy chocolate bars
Buffet tables and stations as well as the band area can be decorated with twinkle lights and triangular flag pennants strung around in the team colors. Have your DJ or bandleader hand out plenty of prizes for contests, including glow jewelry, laser light bracelets, blinking rings, colorful pompoms, etc.

Centerpieces:

Light up your centerpiece! Invert large megaphones and place light-up pompoms inside for pizzazz. Add balloon bouquets in team colors rising out of the center and if you have a favorite sport, add a Mylar football, soccer or basketball balloon to the center of the bouquet. Scatter metallic pompoms on the table for extra color.

Party Favors:

Everybody loves mementos to recall special celebrations. In addition to candy wrappers, water bottles and dance floor prizes, consider giving each guest a spirit T-shirt wrapped up with lots of other prizes, like sport award medals, team spirit kazoos, face tattoos, face paint, pompoms, megaphones, etc.

Activities:

Karaoke is always a fun addition to dinner and dancing. These set-ups can be rented and, again, fabulous prizes are in order!

Sugary Sweet 16 Party

Has it always been your dream to live in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory? Do you find yourself wishing that you weren't too old to play Candyland? If you're looking for a really sweet way to celebrate your 16th birthday then look no further.
If you're looking for a very unique location for such a fun theme, check your area for a 1950s style restaurant or diner like Johnny Rockets. Another fun place in which you can celebrate this sweet party is a warehouse. This way you can be sure that there will be plenty of room for the candy as well as the guests. You can even use custom designed signs and props to make your very own candy store wherever you are having the party. Some other cool, fun and different locations include large candy stores or candy factories. You may just be able to talk them into it!

Invitations

.

Tie the party information to a large colorful lollipop or a small bag of candy.

Use cute decorative bags filled with yummy treats and a little piece of paper describing all the party details to invite your friends to the sweetest party of the year.

Are you looking for something that will double as both an invitation and a party favor? Hand-deliver a T-shirt to each guest. Make sure that the party details are printed on the back of the shirt, while a picture of a giant piece of candy that says, "(Your name)'s Sweet Shop" decorates the front of the shirt. Roll up the shirts and tie each end with ribbon so that they truly look like big Tootsie Rolls®.

guest of honor dressed as a giant Hershey® Kiss or in the uniform of an old-time Sweet Shop employee.

Decorations

First of all, post signs near the entrance to the party that point to the party room and say, "(Name of guest of honor)'s Sweet Shop Now Open for Business" or "Feed your sweet tooth this way." A cutout of the host/hostess surrounded by candy is most appropriate standing in the doorway as well.

A colorful balloon arch is also a great idea for brightening up the entrance to the party. Ask your local balloon person to show you the M&M balloons that are available in primary colors (the red one is good for you, too). Another cool decoration to have at the party entrance is a giant colorful balloon lollipop or even a balloon lollipop bouquet. Or maybe candy heart balloons are right for your party.

For a really creative and wacky way to welcome your guests, write a poem (or we can do it for you) on a large piece of poster board that uses the names of different kinds of candy throughout the poem. Place the actual candies in place of the words for a cute sign to invite your guests into the party in a very sweet way. Something like--

"You're a lifesaver for coming to my party! Don't snickerâ¦I really mean it!"

As your guests walk into the party area they will see piñatas hanging from the ceiling and all over the walls for added decoration as well as an activity for later (they are filled with candy, of course!).

Centerpieces

Want a great centerpiece. Use a Junk Food Boxâa basket filled with candy pops, cookies, jelly beans and more. Give these to children's hospitals or an orphanage as a gift when the party is over. You'll feel great about it! To make them extra special, tie some balloons off in your favorite colors. Scatter miniature wrapped candies around the base as confettiâand what a great look! And you're so charitable!

For a more casual look, set up a few very long tables with different kinds of miniature candies such as Hershey Kisses, individually wrapped Lifesavers, Starlight Mints, etc. all over each table. There is also confetti in the shape of Hershey Kisses available and it looks adorable spread out all over the tables. Center a few baskets full of goodies throughout each table so that the guests can munch on sweets all through the evening.

If you are looking for a cool idea for "sweet" 16 centerpieces that is a bit more formal, place a mini gumball machine filled with gumballs on each table and tie balloons to each machine. If you would rather not use gumballs for every machine, fill one machine with jelly beans, one with Lemon Heads, another with M&Ms, etc. These are available at any toy store.

Tables

Name each table after a fictitious street with the name of a candy: Candy Cane Lane, Milky Way, Rolo Rd., etc. Then use the name on your seating cards. For example⦠everyone who is sitting at Candy Cane Lane (table 4, let's say), has a candy cane attached to their seating card to represent the table. You are so clever!

And finally, at each place, put candy-colored lip whistles; these are too cool. Your friends will love them.

More Seating Card Ideas

For another inventive seating card idea, give each guest his or her own Hershey Bar that comes complete with seating assignment either on the inside or outside of the wrapper.put your face on it and other special things about you.

Or you can tie each seating card to a colorfully swirled lollipop or a fun and different Pez dispenser. The Pez dispenser (with candy) can also serve as part of the take home favor at the end of the night (people collect those things, you know).

Finally, candy bracelets or necklaces make adorably festive napkin rings to bring flatware and other table decorations together.

Sign in board

A caricature of your Sweet 16 party guy or gal surrounded by sweet treats makes a great focal point and inspires guests to leave messages.

Menu

Start your Sweet 16 sweet party off with a selection of appetizers like wings or ribs in sweet barbecue sauce, fried sweet potatoes, "sweet-ish" meatballs, etc. Sweet and Sour pork or chicken is the perfect main course, accompanied by sweet and sour soup. A selection of sweet strawberries, pineapple, and other fruits are a welcome addition to any such dinner. For dessert, have a "candy bar". I don't mean an actual bar of chocolate, but a large table filled with bags and bowls and absolute mountains of all kinds of candy. Each guest may fill a small bag full of candy from this table. Eat some candy for dessert and take the rest home for a favor. Of course, don't forget the Sweet 16 Celebration Cake and the "make your own sundae" bar complete with candy toppings. What to Wear

At a sweet party like this, what to wear is up to you. Your attire really depends on the party's location . Although with all of the chocolate that will be lurking around for this party you might want to stay away from wearing anything that is easily stained. For example, that new cream-colored mohair turtleneck sweater that you have been saving for the perfect party will have to stay in your drawer for at least one more night.

If the party is in a warehouse, make sure to dress warm if it takes place during the winter. Most warehouses are especially drafty during the winter months.

Games and Activities

A piñata is always fun. Take turns swinging at several piñatas filled with candy! Divide the party into teams and have the teams compete to be the first to bust their piñata and retrieve the candy.

For a really good time, try a scavenger hunt. This is a game that is usually relatively inexpensive and time- consuming. Give the partygoers clues that take them from place to place. Perhaps this game could begin at the house of the party host/hostess, and the final clue could lead to the party destination. The team that arrives at the final destination first wins! (Or instead of a scavenger hunt have a treasure hunt). Set out prizes (choose from our list of favors below) all over the place and have guests collect them (one of the dinkiest prizes should have a special sticker on it that can be traded in for a really cool prize).

Another fun game is Name that Candy. It will help break the ice by throwing people together for some healthy competition. For this game, you will need to split all of your guests into two teams. Give a numbered piece of paper to each team. Across from each number is a "candy clue." For example, the clue for number one could be "mean laughs." The candy that matches this clue is "Snickers." The clue for number 2 could be, "Lip smackers," and the candy that matches this could be "(Hershey) Kisses." The clue for number 3 could be "Cow's that can't lactate," and the candy that matches it could be "Milk Duds." I think you get the idea. The team who matches the most "candy clues" to the correct candy wins a prize. I'll give you a hint about what the prize should be: It's sweet, and sometimes has fruity or cocoa flavoringâ¦

There's nothing better than a party that glows! The #1 favorite party favor is glow jewelry.Cinderella: A Sweet 16 Party

Remember, keep your decorations to the tables and the focal point in the room, which most likely will be the stage! No one will notice the wallsâso tall centerpieces (balloons are the best for a Sweet 16) with oversize and large quantities of balloons will fill the room and make it look like the "fantasy" you want it to be.

Entry

display of you dressed as Cinderella, standing in front of her pumpkin coach, welcoming all to the party!

Over the door to the "ballroom,"put "Welcome to The Ball!" and light it with twinkle lights. The size of this sign would depend on the entrance.

At the entrance, each young lady (and perhaps the old ones, too) should pick up a rhinestone tiara for ur hair.

You may also want to have a table where you have masks on a stick (like they used to use at the balls of old).
Ceiling treatment

Hang additional rhinestone tiaras (style one, style two) from the ceiling (if you can) and watch as they glitter in the lights from the DJ or bandâ¦a fabulous effect. Mix with oversized "glass" slippers (made of plastic) also hanging from the ceilingâwhat screams Cinderella more??! You should be able to find those at any craft store.

Another great thing to do if the ceiling isnât too high is to fill 14" balloons (in different colors) with helium, tie off curling ribbon and let them float over the dance floor! Spray glitter than slightly so the lights bounce off!

Centerpieces

Something fun would be a black top hat with fabulous balloons coming out of the inside. Or, since the ball is at the castle, nothing wrong with a gold and silver large jester hat as your centerpiece base. The balloons can include Cinderella Mylar balloons or just use pinks, lavenders and other fancy balloons with tulle instead of ribbon. A good balloon company should be able to do something fabulous. Another easy option is a Cinderella centerpiece.

Tables/other

What your overall table looks like is so very important. Here are some ideasâuse them all or just some:

Candyâ¦I would put chocolate foil-wrapped shoes as the table candyâ¦or use these as favors.
Linensâ¦depending on your budget, a silvery overlay would be fabulous! Most linen companies in your area will have these with napkins to match.
Napkin ringsâ¦you may be able to find inexpensive long white gloves to tie around the napkins as a napkin ring (one each, of course). If you donât like that idea, get some magic wands (the kind with stars and ribbons on the end) and wrap the napkin around one at each setting. Tie the napkin with star garland. A great look, I promise.
Cameras...one on each table so your guests can get some candid shops of themselves partying at the ball.
Champagne Maracasâ¦at each seatâa favor and decoration in one!
Champagne Bubblesâ¦also at each seatâfor a fabulous atmosphere.
Try some confetti with the picture of the birthday girl! Very unique and very cool.
If youâre hosting the party at home, check out our Petals & Pearls paper goods and the silver plasticware that goes with it! Or go for solid gold or solid silver to go with your Cinderella theme!

Band/DJ Backdrop

A fabulous balloon arch with a cut-out of the wicked stepmother on one end holding it and the two step-sisters on the other side. Or just pearlized pink and purple balloons with glitter sprayed on them would be fine, too.

If you are not having a DJ or band, youâll need music, of course, so be sure you have a good-quality CD player and a lot of the tunes that are acceptable. Check and see what their favorites are, and maybe everyone can bring one favorite CD.
Activities

A photo opportunity would be funâ¦put the new Polaroid cameras out that are instant and single-use and let everyone go to town. Have a scrapbook ready for them to put the stamp-sized photo in and leave a message.

Put up a "castle" wall where people can leave messagesâjust a large piece of foamcore will work (at any art store) or if youâre artistic, spray light gray and draw lines where stones would be. Provide markers so everyone can sign.

Candlelighting

This is very important. Of course, youâll write something special for your 16 most important friends and relatives and call them up to light the candle. Think about giving them a rose picture frame or heart trinket box in honor of the occasion and to show how much you appreciate them!

Menu

What would they serve at a ball??But probably at a local prop company you can find oversized shoes you can fill with taco chips, etc., for the different buffets. Instead of worrying about what to serve, have the general "teen" stuff like a taco bar, a pasta bar, a pizza bar, etc. But donât stop there! Make 11x17 easel back menus and call things what Cinderella or the prince would call them to show your creativity and get a few chuckles. At the top put BALL CAFÃ and then list the different choices:

Luaus are colorful and fun, and the food is fabulous. So, if you ask me, I think planning a luau is a great way to have a party. Limbo on down the page and check it out...

Invitation:

Make a flier or buy a luau invitation at your local party/stationery store, but instead of sending it alone, prove you're creative and include a flower hair comb for your girlfriends and a flower wrist/ankle lei for the guys. Tell them they must wear the enclosed pieces on their bodies somewhere, and that you want them to dress luau-creative. That will get them talking long before the party!

Outside Entrance:

To make a grand entrance, place bamboo tiki torches outside your door as the first indication to your guests that this is going to be the luau to remember. You may even want to adorn your porch rail or doorway with parrot and/or palm tree lights for a festive effect. Add a CD player with island music to create the perfect atmosphere. If you are really adventurous and can stand the ridicule and neighbor gossip, use pink flamingos to adorn your front yard or line them up the driveway or front sidewalk.

Inside Entrance:

Use netting as your backdrop. Have a big basket of multi-color leis inside the door where people can help themselves to a few. I would plan on 5 or 6 per person so that they can be creative and festive with their leis. If you think you have the time, stand at the door and greet everyone with a lei--this is always a nice gesture and a traditional way of saying aloha. If you are really talented, have a ukulele on hand to serenade your guests as they enter. Maybe put a note on the basket urging them to wear them wherever they please. This will make for fun photo opportunities (you can send them later as a thank you for attending the party).

Backyard:

The backyard is just as fun to decorate as the rest of the house, so donât neglect this space if weather permits or if you plan to expand the party outside. Paper lanterns might be a nice touch, whether inside or in the back yard. Tribal masks are fun, too. Hang wind chimes and wooden parrots to give a complete background to your setting. Shells, sand and perhaps a mini-pool is order here as well. If you really want to go crazy, rent realistic looking fake palm trees and wooden totem poles to place around the yard/patio. Candle votives are a must, but donât forget the citronella candles.

Seating Cards or Name Tags:

If you are assigning seats or if you want to give out nametags (and this is wise when you have a lot of friends that don't know each other), hereâs a thought: thongs. You know, the rubber kind you wear on your feet with a flower in the center? They make for a great nametag or seating card. Just write the name in magic marker, add a 25¢ chain or ribbon (necklace) and voila--a humorous way to get people talking about your creativity and their thongs. Line them up alphabetically on a table near the entrance.

Another thought on this is to use starfish or sand dollars and write the name of the person on it. For nametags, string some ribbon around it.

Buffets:

Using grass skirts, make a table skirt around the buffet table to bring Hawaii right inside your home. Use a green plastic or linen tablecloth over the buffet and pin the skirting to the edges. Add fabulous tropical Mylar balloons (all you need is some helium) in the shape of fish, palm trees and other related shapes, so buffets can be seen from anywhere at the party. Use beachcomber hats (multi-color or plain) upside down to hold different snacks and munchies. Throw a mixture of fabulous foil-wrapped chocolate fish and island party confetti across your table. Your guests will really WOW at your thoughtfulness and carry-through. Provide tropical toothpicks as a final touch. Use baskets on each buffet to hold luncheon napkins, luau-themed plates, cutlery and cups. You may even want to get matching guest towels for your powder room! Check out these luau themed paper goods.

Tables:

A flamingo air walker (a helium balloon with feet) makes for a great centerpiece and is something different than the norm. Don't forget to add confetti and more foil wrapped chocolate fish. Make sure to use tropical colors for your tablecloths--yellow, green, hot pink, melon, orange and bright blue. Add your own seashells, maracas and sand. Another great ideas is to use a fish piñata as your centerpieces or if you prefer, hang them above the tables.

Bar:

The first drink should be served complete with tropical straws and tropical drink stirrers. You may want to add some pineapple votive candles to create some atmosphere--and you may want to add some tropical lights around the bar as well. Donât forget the all-important coconut cups, whether plastic or made from real coconuts (how dedicated do you want to be to making this as authentic as possible for your guests?)

Menu:

Sweet and sour meatballs
Cinnamon chips with pineapple salsa

Sweet potatoes
Chicken long rice
Poi
Beef teriyaki
Hawaiian chicken with ham and pineapple

Chocolate cake and/or coconut cake

Favors:

Fish squirts (little rubber fish that you fill with water, squeeze and squirt) are great fun if the party is outside. Another idea is to send guests home with their own plastic tropical beverage glasses. These are very cute and can be found in housewares stores. We especially like the coconut monkeys, one each for guys and gals.

Fill the room with balloons in tropical colors (great as centerpieces tied off a "real" pineapple), flowers and you'll have a party to remember. Oh, and one last thing--don't forget to do the limbo! All you need is an official limbo kit (two poles and a limbo stick! Why not decorate them with lights, too?)

For a great table look and other décor, go to our South Seas party.

And for that special Konga Line or for a luau your friends will be talking about long after the sun goes down, here are even more ideas:

If you want the fun to start at the front door, think about a fiesta lamppost and entrance. Hang strings of fiesta lights all over the place. Decorate each table with chili pepper paper products and tie the napkins with raffia dyed red or green. Hang red, yellow and green balloons to add to the festive atmosphere. For something really different hang an inflatable cactus or chili pepper. Tooteracas - A tinsel maraca and a horn make this item a favorite as well. A great idea for any party.
Fiesta Lights - Boots and cactus lights that wrap around your deck, your bar, buffet or wherever you want some decorative attention.
Glow - From straws that glow in the dark (now that makes for interesting backyard evening fiesta, no?) to necklaces, earrings (known to be worn as a nose ring by many a beer-toting male)--these are the perfect favors.
Party Cameras - You'll want to remember each of your friends (muchachas and muchachos) in fiesta garb. Make them wear a sombrero, snap a shot and send it later as a thank you for coming to the party!

Decorations

No Fiesta party would be complete without a chili pepper wreath hanging on the door, found at your local import store or world food market. You can make one yourself if you're feeling adventurous. Colorful handmade blankets from Mexico make fabulous wall decorations, as do large sombreros donning ornate colors and sequins.

Centerpieces

Small vases in a variety of colors make wonderful centerpieces when they're filled with fiesta flowers.

Another fun idea is to line the center of each table with colorful tin candles. The tins come in a variety of different designs and are sure to add light and fun to the party.

Have you ever wanted to let loose and shake your maracas? Well now is your chance! Place a few sets of gourd maracas throughout each table (or as a centerpiece depending on the size of the table). Encourage your guests to shake the maracas every time they hear a certain song/word during the evening. This makes for fun entertainment as well as nice decoration.

For a fun and colorful invitation, roll up the details of the party in a piece of colorful paper and tie it with a bandanna. Let your guests know that the bandanna must be worn in order to gain admittance into the party.

Menu

For an authentic fiesta, try a Mexican buffet so that everyone can sample a little bit of everything. Some foods that you want to be sure to include are chicken fajitas, warm flour tortillas, chili con queso, tortilla soup, Mexican rice, black bean and corn salsa, three-milk cake, flan, and margaritas. Check out these great Mexican recipes.

Drink the margaritas through plastic sombrero straws.

Activities

Teach everyone to do the Macarena or the Mexican Hat Dance and have a contest to see who is the best dancer.

Hang a chili pepper piñata and let everyone have a turn trying to knock it to the ground. Don't forget the piñata fillers.

Limbo - Play some fun music while your friends stand in line waiting to bend backwards low enough to fit under the limbo stick (broom handle, yardstick, etc.). In order to win, the limbo master must not touch the stick or fall on the floor while limbo-ing under the stick (which is usually held by 2 people).

As each guest enters the party, take his/her picture with a giant sombrero on his/her head. This picture is a nice party favor at the end of the fiesta. Inexpensive frames to protect the pictures can be found at most discount stores and are easily decorated with paint pens for a festive look.

Give each guest his/her own neon sombrero to take home as a remembrance of your fabulous fiesta.

Sweet 16 Sweet Dreams Slumber Party
"To sleep, perchance to dreamâ¦" Shakespeare sure knew his women! Teenage girls, no matter how grownup they think they are, LOVE pajama parties.
So why not make this a Sweet 16 Slumber Party? The girls can yak the night away, have sweet dreams, and wake up to being served breakfast in bed. Now THATâs what call SWEET!

Invitations

Pick a theme for the invitation thatâs near and dear to you or your Sweet 16erâs heartâ¦Sports? Teddy bears? Boys? Smiley Faces? Horses? Rainbows? Boys? Telephones? (â¦or would pagers be better?) Boys? (I detect a theme hereâ¦but NO BOYS ALLOWED!) Just about anything goes, and
Whatever you choose for the invitation, carry the design elements and/or colors through for your whole party, from party ware and centerpieces to balloons and signage) to give it a coordinated, cohesive look. If you choose a Teddy Bear theme for your invitation for example, invite your guests to bring their favorite bear to the party, have bears holding serving dishes on the food table, etc.

Itâs going to be a long night, so invite the girls to be prepared to share a funny or embarrassing story or secret about the guest of honor.

Décor & Food

Welcome your guests with a sign created around the theme used for the invitations.Or a simple Happy 16th Birthday banner works well. Are lots of fancy decorations really necessary when the whole roomâs filled with sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets? Probably not. But favors and activities are important. Why? Needless to say, there will be little or no sleeping at this party, so make sure you have lots of diversions on handâ¦polish for toenails, makeup for face-painting, and lots of disposable cameras on hand to record the eveningâs mischief and events for posterity! Have a table set with lots of snack foods and beverages to keep the girlsâ whistles wet as they yak the night away. Load up a boombox or multiple CD player with favorite tunes. Give your Mom and Dad earplugs and tell them to go to sleep. (After all, they have to be up early to feed your darling friends.) Eventually, everyone WILL drop off for a snooze.

By the time the girls wake up (say, 11-ish) you can have a gourmet breakfast smorgasbord spread out and ready for the girls. You can do the cooking yourself, ask your parents to help or have the breakfast catered and served or just prepared and delivered -- it all depends on your budget! Your breakfast fare may include any or all of the following: fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, omelets and eggs, sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon, ham, hot and cold cereals, fresh breads, pastries, bagels, and muffins, whipped cream, cream cheese, salmon or lox, crepes, quiche, cinnamon toast, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, or anything else you can think of that would suit their fancy.
